Gabaldon district press conference is happening now at Gabaldon Central School. Different elementary
schools in Gabaldon took part in this event. Pupils participated in different categories such as: Radio
broadcasting, Collaborative Desktop Publishing, Editorial Writing, editorial cartooning, news writing,
sports writing, feature writing, copy reading, column writing and photo journalism in both Filipino and
English. The winners in this contest will be joining the CD 3 press conference.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) called out Education Secretary Leonor Briones for
“treacherously” vowing to strengthen the implementation of the K to 12 programs.

The group has been opposing the education reform noting that it has “systematically weakened” the
nationalist mission of the curriculum.

ACT also alleged that the K to 12 is also the “culprit” to the removal of Filipino and Philippine
Literature as core subjects in the tertiary level through Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
Memorandum No. 20 and recently concurred by the Supreme Court.
