Our parol is a ring-shaped made of a twisted polished root of a tree with 5 bamboo
platter that formed a star shaped alternated with coconut shell. The center of the parol is
inspired by the season of advent. Within the advent wreath that is made of a twisted
polished root of a tree knotted with the banana leaf sheath are the four candles made of a
hard paper that is wrapped with tobacco sock. The star of farmers is purely made of
biodegardabke material except for he lightings aspect. Along with this, the parol is an eco-
friendly parol which promotes the wealthy of a farmer with such care for the nature.
Our parol named “Star of Farmers” is designed to promote the beauty of crops and to
show the Christmas cultures of Filipino. The ring-shaped twisted polished root of a tree
signifies the strong relationship of filipino during christmas. Friends and families living
kilometers away from one another meet up despite the aberrations. Christmas parties are
held here and there. But what every Filipino looks forward to is the noche buena, a
Philippine tradition where families gather to sit down for dinner on Christmas Eve and enjoy
food specifically made for the evening. It is a day of family closeness, everyone wishing
good cheers and glad tidings, and when they give and open presents. The 5 bamboo platter
and coconut shell represents the 5 events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. 1st The
proclamation of the sheperd. 2nd The babe in the manger. 3rd Jesus' dedication and
presentation in the temple. 4th The star and the Magi and 5th The flight to Egypt and the
second return to Nazareth. The center of the Parol is the advent season which is the
preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ. Three candles are purple or blue and one is rose
3
or pink. The first candle represents hope. The second candle peace. The pink candle,
generally lit on the third Sunday of Advent, represents joy
