Gordon’s Pattern

1. Health-Perception/ Health Management Pattern

Before Hospitalization

The patient tells his mother everytime when she is not feeling well and feels anxious when she’s
feeling sick. . Her parents prefer to buy and OTC drugs everytime they get sick.

During Hospitalization

Although, she cooperates with her attending nurse and physician to the procedures made to her
with no doubts and fear for her early recovery

2. Nutritional/ Metabolic Pattern

Before Hospitalization

The patient eats three times a day with in-between snack. She likes to eat vegetables and fruits
such as green leafy vegetables, squash, carrots, apple, grapes and banana. She also love eating
sauté vegetable dishes, chopsuey and fried chicken rather. During snack, she prefer to eat food
that high in carbohydrate like french fries and drinks carbonated beverages like mirinda.

During Hospitalization

She still prefer to eat fries and mirinda drinks and ate rice meals occasionally due to lost of her
appetite but she was advised to eat foods high in vitamin C and K and increase fluid intake.

3. Elimination Pattern

Before Hospitalization

According to the patient, when she is at home she usually defecates for twice a day during day
and night. She urinates more frequently, average of five times daily.

During Hospitalization

She defecates at least once a day twice a day during day and night. She also voids at night 2 and
5 times in the morning, average of 7 times in 24 hours.

4. Activity/ Exercise Pattern

Before Hospitalization

As a typical child, her daily routine is to go to school every morning. After school, she makes her
assignment at home. Before sunset, she go with her grandfather to feed their chickens in the
poultry farm at the backyard. She engage playing various outdoor games with her friends. She is
also active school activities.

Duing Hospitalization

She is in bed rest most of the time playing with her gadget.

5. Sleep-rest Pattern

Before Hospitalization

The patient sleeps for an average of 8-10 hours per day. She usually sleep at 8:45 in the evening
and woke-up around 8:30 am. She usually takes a nap in the afternoon.

During Hospitalization

Though she sleeps as early as 6:30 pm, but she can still complete her 8 hours sleep and woke-up
at 4:00 am because of her blood extraction sample.

6. Cognitive/ Perceptual Pattern

Her 5 senses is in normal condition including sense of sight, smell, hear, taste and touch. And
has a good memory in past and current events.

7. Self Perception/ Self-Concept Pattern

Patient J says that she is comfortable with his body image.

8. Role/ Relationship Pattern

Before Hospitalization
She is the youngest of the siblings and had 1 sister and a brother whom they spend time playing
outdoor games. They watched television together. She also spends time with his grandfather
feeding their chickens and reports that she enjoy to have a good time together.

During Hospitalization

Her activities were limited but most of the time she spend her time with her mother watching
cartoons and playing games on her gadget.

9. Sexuality & Reproductive Pattern

She is youngest among the brood of 3 wherein she had 1 sister and a brother.
10. Coping/ Stress-tolerance Pattern

Before Hospitalization

As part of not getting bored at home the patient prefer outdoor games and feed their chicken with
her grandfather.

During Hospitalization

Patient J play mobile games and watching cartoons as part of her past time, as she is in bed most
of the time.

11. Value/ Belief Pattern

Before Hospitalization

The patient is a Roman Catholic, together with her parents they go to the church every Sunday to
hear mass.

During Hospitalization

She pray at least twice a day before and after he sleep.
