A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL SCIENCE

GRADE 11
By Mary Ann L. Tolibao

TOPIC/ LESSON Chapter 1: Formation of Elements Found in the Universe

Lesson 1.1: The Big Bang Theory
CONTENT STANDARD The learners demonstrate an understanding of the formation of the elements during
the Big Bang and during stellar evolution and the distribution of the chemical
elements and the isotopes in the universe.
PERFORMANCE The learners make a creative representation of the historical development of the
STANDARD atom or the chemical element in a timeline
LEARNING The learners shall be able to:
COMPETENCIES  give evidence for and explain the formation of the light elements in the Big Bang
theory (S11PS-IIIa-1);
SPECIFIC LEARNING At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
OUTCOMES/ OBJECTIVES 1. describe the big bang;
2. briefly discuss the cosmology of the Big Bang model;
3. provide an overview of the proof or the Big Bang model; and
4. write reaction involving the nucleosynthesis of the first elements

I. Procedure:
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Everyone is requested to please stand up for the prayer. (one student will lead the prayer)

Before you take your seats, kindly pick up some pieces of

papers and arrange your chairs properly.

Now, let’s check your attendance. Do we have absentees

today? (checking of attendance)

I am glad that all of you are present today.

Good morning, class? Good morning, ma’am.

A. Preliminary Activity
Learning Task 1- Introduction/Review
For our first lesson, we will learn about the beginning of Yes, ma’am.
the universe through the Big Bang Theory, is it familiar to
all?

Learning Task 2-Motivation

For you to understand how the universe was created, let
us first watch a movie clip about the Big Bang Theory

B. Lesson Proper:
Learning Task 3- Activity
Now class, let us have another activity. Since molecules
of compounds are formed by chemical bonds, identify
and describe the different types of bonds using the
illustration below. Do this by group.
Learning Task 4- Analysis
The geometry of
Learning Task 6-Application
Cite an example of a compound molecule that can be
determine as polar or nonpolar using their
electronegativity.
II. Assessment
Direction:

(1) Provide the following electronegativities of some atoms. (16 pts)

Example: Ca=1.0

H= Mg= Al= O=

Li= Na= C= S=

K= Zn= N= P=

F= Cl= Br= I=

(2) Using the electronegativities in #1, classify the bonds of the following molecule. (Show your solution)

a. CO d. N2 g. LiCl

b. LiH e. KCL h. MgCL2

c. CCl4 f. SO2 i. CS2

III. Assignment
Research for different geometric shapes of molecules that are related polarity and properties
of molecules.
