Summary:

This case study mainly talks about how to care for children suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic
Leukaemia (ALL) based on Johnson’s Behavioral Model. Johnson’s theory is greatly affected by
Nightingale’s opinion toward the environment. Johnson believed that an individual as a behavioral system
use purposeful, repetitive and patterned ways that causes relationship with the environment. The goal of
this theory is to help people prevent illness and injuries. In this case study of an eleven year old patient
who is suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The nursing processes are applied all based
on the behavioural model of Johnson. The nurses should be able to diagnose, set a goal and treat the
patient. The number of diagnosis can vary depending on the patients current situation, the more
complications in the patients body, the more diagnosis. The first diagnosis of the nurse in this situation is
the patients suffering from hyperthermia due to infection, the goal of the nurse is to be able to regulate
the temperature of the child to normal range to prevent further complications. Second diagnosis is the
danger of bleeding related to the decrease in platelet count, the goal is to stop the bleeding. Third is the
infection of White blood cells, goal is to control infection. There are more diagnosis but similarly, all
diagnosis are a specific problem and require a goal that is only met by following measures. For example,
the washing of hands to reduce high fever, another would be bused wearing sterile gloves to control
infection in White blood cells.

For the data shown, after the diagnosis and treatment was done, positive results was shown,
appetite has been improved, platelets and white blood cell count returned to normal range and the
symptoms was no longer present and the patient can now return to their daily normal activities.

The used of designing a care plan based on Johnson's behavioral model showed positive results on
the patient with the help of nursing interventions based on each of the subsystems need in the model
namely; aggressive/protection, affiliate, dependency, eliminative, ingestive, restorative, and sexual
subsystem. Johnson's theory can be used as a basis for a clinical environment, a framework for diagnosing,
proposing and evaluating comprehensive care, help experienced nurses collect comprehensive and
trustable information about the health status of the patient, and increased the quality of nursing care for
patients.
Insight :

In this case analysis, The existing problems that the patients is experiencing are the sign of
instability in behavioral system which need nursing intervention. The patient who has been studied
in this paper shows the application of nursing process based on Johnson behavioral theory in a
clinic in a more expanded environment. Johnson behavioral theory is related to clinical
environments and can be used in hospitals as a framework for diagnosing the problems of patient
and proposing and evaluating comprehensive nursing care. Moreover, this theory can be
implemented in clinical environments and it has been investigated especially on kids very little. It
can also help experienced nurses to collect comprehensive and trustable information about the
health status of the patient and as the result cause increasing the quality of nursing cares for
patients.

In addition to this, the behavioral system model is the idea that "all the patterned, repetitive,
purposeful ways of behaving that characterize each person's life make up an organized and
integrated system" meaning that by categorizing behaviors, they can be predicted and ordered.
Nursing Practice is structured to evaluate a client's well-being, identify problems, and provide
solutions. The latter require organized and scientifically rational processes of assessment,
diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes. In order to focus on the holistic idea of
nursing, it is important to think of the behavioral and biological together as health instead of
viewing both as separate ideas.
