Check cooling system for leaks and (if necessary) replace coolant thermostat housing or the coolant pump

Check the cooling system for leaks according to the repair manual.
• If an external leak is detected on the coolant thermostat housing (illustration 1, red ellipses), replace the coolant
thermostat housing according to the repair manual/ parts catalogue.

• If an external leak is detected on the coolant pump (illustration 2, red ellipses), replace the coolant pump
according to the repair manual/ parts catalogue.

The following information is only for vehicles within warranty/goodwill and markets that use DISS.
If a leak is detected on the coolant thermostat housing or coolant pump, document it with photos. A photo of the
coolant level in the coolant expansion tank must also be taken. Save the photos in DISS.

If a contamination of the coolant or the cooling system is found, TPI: 2046981/* must be observed.

Only the damage-causing component (either coolant thermostat housing or coolant pump) has to be replaced - a
groundless parts replacement of either component under warranty will be redebited.
