Q.2) Tell me about yourself?

Me: Myself Rajan Kumar. My mother is a house wife and my father is a school teacher in Arunachal
Pradesh. I had lived my childhood in this region & completed my secondary education from Govt.
Secondary School Manmao, then I moved to Indore and passed my Higher secondary with 81% .I
have passed out NIT-BHOPAL as a mechanical engineer with 7.69 ggpa . During my college I had
taken Industrial training from IOCL-Digboi & NTPC-Korba. In the final year of my college I got placed
in Larsen & Toubro limited, MMH Division and joined in July of 2013 as a GET. So from this date my
professional life started,

I have been given my first responsibility for the Erection, Alignment and commissioning of all
mechanical equipment’s for Carbon Recycling System at HINDALCO Industries (Aditya Birla Group)-
Lapanga, Odisha.

I started my careers first project; I was determined in my approach and I faced challenges during the
project from which I learned to manage & lead a team. With team efforts have made my first
assignment of 12 months in time bound & safe manner for which I have been awarded Best Safety
Conscious engineer 2014-2015 & also Top performer of the year for successfully completing this
assignment. After commissioning I have been assigned in the maintenance of the equipment’s.

My second assignment which I recently completed is Erection, Alignment and commissioning of

Reclaim Air slide conveyor &Gravity conveyor for Revival of Gas Treatment Centre at HINDALCO
Lapanga. It is a very challenging and rather different type as I have been allotted only few no of days
to execute these shut-down jobs. But with my work ethics & temperament, I have been able to
execute this in time which was appreciated by RIO TINTO ALESA engineers & the AAP-Lapanga
project head.

During all of this I spare my time for my hobbies & interests such as -Reading novels, watching TV
series, visiting to exotic places, playing cricket. I always like to spend my time for my hobbies as it
refreshes me with fresh energy .As a matter of fact I have been playing in my project site team & we
reached up to quarter finals last year.

Q 3) You don’t have much experience in this field???

ME: Sir, I feel that learning is the best key to gain success in any particular field. My work ethics &
temperament is best suited to any new & challenging job. I have developed keen interest in this
field. Let me give you an example:-

When I joined as a GET, Equipment alignment & commissioning of CRS was completely new &
challenging job to do. It takes me some months to learn, how to align & commission and after that I
have done it within time & safe manner with negligible rework.

Then after that I suddenly got an opportunity to erect, align & commission the Air slide conveyor
which was again a new job for me but the client & my senior management has shown faith in me to
do this job, as it was a shutdown job, so I have to do it in a tight schedule with negligible tolerances, I
studied the drawings, methodology consulted with the Technology provider RIO TINTO ALESA
engineers & executed the job in time which was appreciated by ALESA engineers & the client project
head, more important point was that at the time of commissioning no reworks was done.

These two experiences gave me lots of confidence that I can do jobs which are challenging & new to
me more competently.

Q.4) what did you learn from your professional experience?

Me: I had learnt two things from my experience:

Technical skills& job responsibilities
1) Belt driven equipment’s-(Jaw crusher, double roll crusher, Centrifugal blower fan & Lube
(ROOTS BLOWER) type compressor)
2) Gear driven equipment’s-(conveyors, Magnetic-separator, and jib crane)
3) Alignment of Coupling, Bearing &plumber block for Conveyors.
4) Lubrication& Hydraulic system for Jaw crusher and Roll crusher.
5) Compressed air line for solenoid valve& Blower airline.
6) Vibrating feeder (Direct force & out of balance type).

a) Fabrication, erection and fit up of storage silo of capacity 2200MT, 1800MT, 500MT, 400MT.
b) Erection , Alignment and commissioning of Single toggle Jaw crusher, Double roll crusher,
Magnetic separator, Belt wiegher , Flap gate, Dust cleaning system(Bag filters, vacuum cleaning
system),Apron conveyor & belt conveyors.
c) Installation, commissioning &Maintenance of Hydraulic &Lubrication system for Jaw crusher and
Roll crusher.
D) Installation, Alignment and commissioning of centrifugal blower fan & Lube type compressor for
dust cleaning system in CRS.
e) Alignment of Rigid coupling, Bearing, Plumber block, Gear box etc.
f)Erection ,Fit up & commissioning of 8024 Inch metres of compressed air line and blower air line of
varying dia from 1/2” to 18” inch.
g) Erection, Fit up, Alignment & commissioning of Reclaim Air slide conveyor & Gravity conveyor.
h) Dismantling of old double roll crusher with the new one.
I) Maintenance of Jaw crusher, double roll crusher, Magnetic separator, Conveyor pulley bearings,
gearbox, coupling, and pneumatic cylinder, centrifugal fan & bag filter.

Managerial Skills

I have made my first assignment of 12 months in time bound & safe manner efficiently by leading
from the front and motivated my team each time so that they can excel in every success. For this I
have been awarded as the Best safety conscious Engineer award for 2014-2015 year at site.

My second assignment is a very challenging and rather different type as I have been allotted only
few no of days to execute these because of the fact that these are the shut-down jobs. But with my
work ethics & temperament I have done this in well behind schedule time.

Some of the Managerial skills that I learnt from my seniors &I used in this project---

Self Confidence, Leadership skills, Team Management, Resource& cost Management, Self-motivated
& determined in my approach, Flexibility & an ability to adapt myself with changing circumstances,
Timely Interacting with the technicians by organising training programmes.
