Salemiel: Peace of God

There is an archangel in our oral tradition whose name is obvious, but who is not well known,
Salemiel, which means “peace of God.” As we know, Melchizedek is called the King of Salem, and
King of Righteousness and so it has been said that Salemiel is a guardian angel of Melchizedek,
along with another angel who is the “twin” of Salemiel, Tzedekiel, the “righteousness of God.” In
the tradition these “twin angels” also become associated with Yohanan the Baptist, for the name
Yohanan means “dove,” and implies “peace,” and his call of the people to repentance is a call for
the restoration of righteousness. If we understand the teachings of the priest-king Melchizedek as a
pure emanation, and we recall the teachings of the soul of Elijah as a pure emanation according to
Jewish Midrashim, so we may understand that the connection of these twin guardian angels with
both Melchizedek and Yohanan runs very deep on an esoteric level.

If we understand the role of guardian angels, they do not just exist to protect souls, but rather,
they serve as keepers of the knowledge of souls and their destiny, and they serve to remind souls of
their knowledge, and of their true purpose and mission, and so along with serving as a guardian,
they serve as an angelic guide. Thus, to speak of “twin guardian angels” of Melchizedek and
Yohanan is to speak of great and holy angels who hold the Habad, the wisdom, understanding and
knowledge of Melchizedek (Primordial Enlightenment) and the Baal Shem (Master of the Name).

Contemplating Salemiel, here we may also recall the appearance of the Risen Messiah to his
disciples in the upper room, when he greets them twice with salem, or shalom, and breathes upon
them the Holy Spirit; hence, the imparting of the Light Transmission in pure emanation – Supernal
Grace, or Abundant Mercy.

As we know, the name of the City of God is Jerusalem, “God’s Peace,” and it is said that Salemiel
holds knowledge of the mysteries of New Jerusalem, and how it is fashioned by the prayers of the
Community of Israel and the Word of God weaving together.

Joined with this, Tzedekiel and Salemiel are said to labor continually for the union of the
Righteous One (Yesod) and Shekinah (Malkut) throughout the generations of the Human One
(Adam); and so they stand as guardian angels of the Continuum of Light Transmission, and
specifically, the transmission of the Supernal Light, the Holy Light of the Messiah. In this they have
a deep connection with Oriel, the “light of God,” and as well as with Metatron and Sandalfon.

These twin archangels are noted for their boundless compassion, and as such they will send forth
emanations, or send forth angels from among their hosts, for any cause of peace, or the
restoration of righteousness and truth, and therefore, when individuals are in need of peace, or
the generation of righteousness, tzaddikim and initiates may invoke Salemiel and Tzedekiel,
blessing with the peace of God and righteousness of God.

Tzedekiel appears as a radiant holy man, and Salemiel appears as a radiant holy woman, as though
twins, male and female; and they are noted for direct visitations, or appearing through emanations
that might seem material, as well as appearances in the visionary dimension and in dream. Very
often when they appear to initiates they will communicate mysteries of the Order of Melchizedek,
and likewise mysteries of the baptism of the Spirit, for they are angelic midwives of the baptism of
the Spirit.
When these archangels are invoked the Names of El Elyon and Eheieh are called upon, for they
bear knowledge and power of these Holy Names in creation and they are from a secret order of
angels within the Hayyot, corresponding with Atik Yomin. The sacred chant most often taught for
Salemiel is, Ah-Yah Sal-im-ee-el, and the sacred chant most commonly taught for Tzedekiel is, Ah-
Yah Tza-Dak-ee-el.

Here it must be said that the names given for these twin archangels are their “outer names,” but
they have “inner” or “secret names” which they reveal to those able to listen and hear them. This
is true of all of the archangels and angels of God, and reflects the truth of Adonai and Yahweh in
the Holy Kabbalah.

In closing, it is given that we can speak a secret mystery. According to masters of the tradition,
these twin archangels were among the archangels present when Elohim formed the body of Adam
Ha-Rishon and breathed into the First Human Being the living soul, hayyah nefesh. Thus, they are
among the supernal angels that have deep knowledge of the creation of the Human One, and who
labor for the full realization of the Human One in the Light Continuum, Yahweh.

O Adonai, we praise and bless Your Holy Name, and we pray for the manifestation of Your
Peace and Your Righteousness among us. Amen.

Peace and Righteousness as Faith

Shalom Dear Tau and Friends,

Praise to Mother Spirit for such blessings!

The same day that this post appeared, a friend offered a verse as an encouragement, which feels
to be connected. It is from Isaiah 26:

You will keep him in perfect peace,


Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Trust in Yahweh forever,
For in Yah, Yahweh, is everlasting strength.

In the teaching on Tzadakiel and Salemiel, Righteousness and Peace have been woven together,
touching many mysteries and bringing many beautiful contemplations. It comes to mind that in the
verse from Isaiah we are given a picture of what it looks like to walk with these twin archangels.
He/She whose mind is stayed on You, because he/she trusts in You.

It is as though I am hearing this new today: faith that is accounted as righteousness is faith that is
founded on full trust in Yahweh, the Light Continuum, as the Divine Intelligence behind all that is,
guiding all that is into its fruition - full realization of the Human One in the Light Continuum.

May we walk with Salemiel and Tzadakiel, in Peace and Righteousness, trusting fully in Yahweh.

Peace and grace to you in Hayyah Yeshua!


There is another passage from Isaiah that might go very well here:

“Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down righteousness; let the earth open,
that salvation may spring up, and let it cause righteousness to sprout also; I Yahweh have created
it” (45:8).

If one considers it, this reads like an invocation of Tzedekiel, and so Salemiel as well. In this verse,
righteousness is connected with salvation, righteousness leading to salvation, and salvation
generating greater righteousness. It is quite lovely, and as we know, faith is the foundation of all
other attributes and gifts in the spiritual life, for apart from faith there is no salvation, and no
other spiritual attribute or gift can arise without faith. Thus, faith is implied here, faith in Yahweh,
the Creator, and faith in the Messiah, Enlightenment.

The word salvation, of course, implies the enlightenment of souls that leads to liberation – the
Great Ascension.

If we contemplate the heavens, or skies, showering down righteousness, while the Spiritual Sun
shines in them, there is a natural image that arises of light and rainbows, and we cannot help but
think of the inner baptism of the Spirit, as well as the Rainbow Body Attainment – Divine Rapture.
This is another attribute of these twin archangels, they are among the archangels that have
knowledge of the Rainbow Body Attainment, and it is said in the oral tradition concerning them
that wherever this Divine Rapture occurs, so they appear and are present in that holy place. On
story concerning them cites them as the two angels present in the empty tomb, and another as two
angels present at the ascension; though there are other legends that cite different archangels
present in these places, such as one that teaches that it was Gavriel and Michael. In any case,
these stories point to these two angels as agents of the Divine Rapture, or Rainbow Body
Attainment.

In that these two hold the Habad of Melchizedek, this is only natural that they are associated with
Divine Rapture, for this Habad is the recognition and realization of all self-liberating as it arises;
hence, the recognition of the Primordial Foundation of All, which is pure from the very beginning,
and remains always in purity, never tainted, marked, stained, traced or corrupted – forever pure,
the Virgin Mother.

The esoteric correspondence of the Primordial Foundation as the Virgin Mother of the Messiah, or
all of the holy and enlightenment ones, also indicates another association of these twin archangels
as “guardians of the Virgin Mother,” or “Mother Israel”; this, of course, assume a most subtle and
sublime understanding of what Mother means, one that transcends the typical limited ideas of
gender.

In much the same way that the union of Metatron and Sandalfon is said to generate another
archangelic emanation, Hua, the union of Salemiel and Tzedekiel is said to generate another
archangelic emanation, Ametiel, the “truth of God.”

Through peace and righteousness, so the truth that sets us free is realized!

These were a few further teachings on these holy angels I was inclined to share.
