The Ants and the Grasshopper (10)

It was a cold winter morning. Some ants that lived in an anthill under a tree started
bringing their stored food to eat.

A grasshopper quickly came up to them and begged for some food. “Please give
me some food to eat” said the grasshopper. “Where is your own food?” the ants
asked. “I spent the summer singing and dancing, because the sun was so golden
and the air so sweet that I did not feel like doing anything else” said the grasshopper.

“Did you not think about the winter’s?” asked ants. “I never think so much” replied
the grasshopper. “Well, then you can sing and dance through winter also” said the
ants.

The poor grasshopper understood that he should have not wasted time in
summer. If only he had worked hard when the sun was shining he would have had
food to eat in the cold days ahead.
