a) Definition and etymology of Climate Change.
Climate change is a change in the usual weather of a place or the whole planet. This could be
a change in how much rain a place usually gets in a year, a change in a place's usual
temperature for a month or season. It also could be changes in Earth's usual temperature, or
a change in where rain and snow usually fall on Earth.
Climate change is composed by the world climate and change. Climate comes from French
climat, from Latin clima, from Ancient Greek κλίμα (klíma, “latitude”, literally
“inclination”). Change from Anglo-French chaunge, Old French change "exchange,
recompense, reciprocation," from changier "to alter; exchange; to switch".
b) Brief history of the concepts
The Earth's climate has changed throughout history. Just in the last 650,000 years there have
been seven cycles of glacial. The last ice age was about 7,000 years ago and since then, a
new climate era began, where warm climate is the trend.
In the late 19th century, when industrial revolution began, human began to produce excessive
amounts of greenhouse gasses. Later scientists discovered that these gasses could change the
climate, producing a global warming, and since then, global temperatures are tending to
increase.
Additionally, earth suffers changes among quantity of time like, oceanic processes, plants
processes, plate tectonics, volcanic eruptions also create a climate change. The planet began
by itself a new warm era 7.000 years ago, and with the help of emissions produced by
humans, this climate change to global warming has been faster.
c) Different perspectives of this issue in the history of the world.
In the early 19th century, some scientists began to suspect about climate change In the 1960s,
the warming effect of carbon dioxide gas became increasingly convincing. By the 1990s, as
a result of improving fidelity of computer models and observational work confirming
greenhouse gases were deeply involved in most climate changes and human-caused
emissions were causing global warming. Since the 1990s, scientific research on climate
change has increased and each time, more and more people believe in it.
A new study about climate change, examined 12.000 scientific papers written about this
topic, and the analysis showed that now, more than 97% of the studies said that global
warming is happening and human-caused, at least in part. In contrast, only 41% of the
Americans believes in climate change and says it’s human-caused. The other 49% deny the
existence of climate change.
d) Discovery and developments in the scientific community
The first discoveries related to climate change in the scientific community were by the late
1890s, when an American scientific how much CO2 was in the atmosphere. in the mid-
1960s scientists began to use computers, one of the most important discoveries with the help
of computers was the first detailed calculation of the greenhouse effect. In 1988 the World
Meteorological Organization established the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
with the support of the UNEP. The IPCC continues its work through the present day, and
issues a series of Assessment Reports and supplemental reports that describe the state of
scientific understanding at the time each report is prepared.
e) Suggestions to stop this trend.

To stop climate change, it’s necessary to use alternative energies. These energies are cleaner
and don’t have impact on the environment as conventional energies that produce CO2
emissions. Cars and motorcycles are one of the biggest contributor to C02 emissions, that’s
why people should take public transportation or ride a bike or use electrical scooters. Another
big step to stop climate change is to consume less goods and waste less things.

f) Conclusions

Climate change is a real issue that affects the planet, and with the help of humans and its
produce of greenhouse gasses, climate has drastically changed in the last 100 years producing
a global warming because of human impact. This warming carries out a lot of negative
consequences for the planet, as dryer soils, glacial melting, raising sea levels, etc. Stop this
trend is possible by making changes in society, one of the changes that would help the most
to reduce greenhouse gasses is beginning to use renewables energies in homes, vehicles,
industries, etc.
