V. Background/Problem Statement:

Schools play a vital role in developing and supporting children as they grow
and learn. By developing healthy school environments, we can set the learners up
for success in the classroom and beyond.
According to study, the quality of a school’s environment and its facilities has
a strong influence on student’s learning. Therefore, we must provide the cleanest,
safest, and most conducive learning environment to the learners for them to learn
better and do better in the classroom.
In preparation of a smooth and meaningful opening of classes, a program was
implemented by the Department of Education known as the Brigada Eskwela or
National Schools Maintenance Week. This is one of the commendable programs
wherein all stakeholders are encouraged to participate and contribute their time,
effort, and resources to the school and bring alive the spirit of volunteerism.
Doña Pilar C. Gonzaga Elementary School is the first in providing quality
education yet lacks physical facilities. The wash area needs to be improved so that
the learners will practice good and proper hygiene. Comfort Rooms should be
maintained and cleaned. There must be also posted rules in keeping the toilets
clean. Installation of liquid soap and tissue is also targeted. Likewise, inside the
rooms and special rooms, additional fans are needed to be well- ventilated, more
fluorescent lamps to be well-lighted so that there will be a better vision of the
learners. Nevertheless, manipulative or teaching aids like television, projector and
speaker must be provided also inside the classroom to ensure the effective and
quality education.
We believe that school facilities can have a substantive impact on learning
process. Therefore, we must make our school a very conducive and child-friendly
learning institution.
