Birds are beautiful and interesting animals. Birds are warm-blooded animals, just like
mammals. However, mammals have hair on their bodies while birds have feathers.
Some of the common birds of prey in our country are hawks, owls and eagles. They
have strong beaks shapes like hooks. So, they can tear flesh and shreds. They feed on small
animals such as birds, frog, bats, rats, fish and snakes.

The earth we live in is round. It is a huge ball of rock. It is called a planet. The earth
moves around the sun. Eight other planets travel round the sun. Plants and animals can only
live on our planet. This is because it has the right kind of air and enough heat and water for
them to live.
The earth moves round and round. In one day it moves one round. Have you seen
how the sun ‘moves’ across the sky from sunrise to sunset?
The sun does not move. The earth moves. When our part of the world faces the sun, we call
it daytime. When it turns away from the sun, we call it night-time.
