EAST ZONE

Agenda points of East Zone regarding physical progress to be

discussed during final budget meeting (RE 2019-20) scheduled to
be held on 26th August, 2019 at DG: AIR

PART-A: Civil Works

Civil Work (Continuing Schemes)
1. Chinsurah (Mogra): Replacement of 1000 kW MW Tx by
1000 kW MW DRM Tx (under NESP Phase-II), provision of
fire fighting equipment, etc. regarding.

Installation and testing of fire-fighting equipment has been

completed and to be handed over by Aug.’19.

2. Dhanbad: 10 kW FM Transmitter with limited studio facility

Building has already been taken over by zonal office. Additional A/A
& E/S issued for construction of boundary wall and the construction
to be completed by Sept.’19.
3. Bardhaman: 10kW FM Tx. with limited studio facility

Building has already been taken over. All civil and electrical works
completed. Clarification submitted by CCW in r/o estimate of
boundary wall to Estimate Section to be resubmitted. CCW to
examine the issue related to drainage of water and find the feasible
solution.

Civil Works (New Schemes, 12th Plan)

4. Replacement schemes (FM Tx setups):

Civil and electrical works completed at all places except Joranda.

A/A & E/S issued for civil & elec. works at Joranda, civil works in
progress and likely to be completed by Aug.’19 & elec. Works
targeted to be completed by Oct.’19.
5. Refurbishing of Studio at Sambalpur:
Electrical works completed and civil work targeted to be completed
by Sept.’19.

6. Digitalisation of Studios:

Civil and electrical works completed at all places.

7. 10 kW FM Transmitter set up (3 Nos.) along Indo-Nepal

Border at Narkatiaganj, Bathanaha & Sitamarhi :

Construction of building & elec. works are in progress at all three

sites. Tech. area of Narkatiaganj & Bathanaha to be handed over by
Aug.’19 and Sitamarhi is to be handed over by Oct.’19.

PART B: Equipment & Installation

Continuing Schemes

1. Coochbehar: 10 kW FM Transmitter with limited studio

facility:
An interim set-up of 100 W FM Transmitter with 30 M guyed mast is
presently functioning. 10 kW FM transmitter used for VB service at
Kolkata has been received at Coochbehar and under installation.
100 M SS tower is under re-erection.

2. Darjeeling: 10 kW FM Transmitter with limited studio facility:

10 kW FM Transmitter has been commissioned on interim set-up
with 30 M guyed mast on reduced power. Erection of 100 M FM
Tower has been completed and Zonal Office to do necessary
inspection for taking over the tower as per ATP.

3. Dhanbad: 10 kW FM Tx with limited studio facility:

10 kW FM Transmitter has been commissioned on 27.05.2019 as
interim set-up with 30 M guyed mast & single bay antenna. Tender
floated for erection of 100 M tower by ZO.

4. Bardhaman: 10 kW FM Tx with emergency Studio:

10 kW FM Transmitter ready for commissioning as interim set-up
with 30 M guyed mast & single bay antenna. Proposal for
commissioning the set-up is to be sent by ZO by Aug.’19 to this Dte.
Tender floated for erection of 100 M tower by ZO.
5. Replacement of 100 kW MW Tx by 100 kW MW DRM Tx at
Patna & Ranchi.
The project completed except Mast strengthening work. Work order
placed for Mast strengthening work of Mast at Patna and Ranchi and
targeted to be completed by Nov.’19 and Oct.’19 respectively.

6. Replacement of 200 kW MW Tx by 200 kW MW DRM Tx at

Kolkata (A) & Siliguri.
The project completed except Mast strengthening work. Mast
strengthening work in progress at Kolkata and work order placed at
Siliguri and targeted to be completed by Aug.’19 & Dec.’19
respectively.

7. Replacement of existing 1 kW MW Transmitter by 10 kW FM

Transmitter at Keonjhar
Transmitter has been taken in to service on interim setup with 30 M
guyed mast at reduced power. Tender floated for erection of 100 M
tower by ZO.

8. Digitalization of existing Studios (12 places) in East Zone:

SITC work of console and digital cabling has been completed at all
places. Work Stations received at all places. Purchase proposal for
SITC of servers and radio studio automation system software under
process.
9. Refurbishing of Studios : Bhagalpur:
Scheme completed.
10. Networking of studios:
VPN and the equipment required for this is under execution by
BSNL, TD: Aug.’19.
11. Creation of RNU at Darbhanga :
RNU at Darbhanga is ready for commissioning & matter is under
consideration in PB Sectt.

12th Plan New Schemes

12. New 10 kW FM Transmitters at Muzzafarpur and Krishna
Nagar (TV Sites)
Muzzafarpur: 10 kW FM Tr. being installed and Channel Combiner
spared from Kolkata to be used with existing CTI, zonal equipment
procured and under installation. Proposal to be sent by ZO for
declaring the Controlling Station and deciding the Programme
content.(TD: Aug’19)
Krishna Nagar: 10 kW FM Tr. installed and commissioned on
30.07.2019 as an interim set-up with single bay FM antenna with
7/8" RF Cable on 150 M TV tower. 16-panel antenna received at
site by diversion from Gangtok. Zonal equipment procured and
installed.

13. Setting up of 100 W FM transmitters (17 places) in EZ

Fresh NIT issued for procurement of 100 Watt FM transmitters and
tech. bid to be opened on 03.09.2019.

Replacement of existing old FM Transmitters:

14. 6 kW FM by 10 kW FM Tx at Patna (DD site), Purnea,

Chaibasa, Jamshedpur, Ranchi(DD), Behrampur, Bolangir and
Asansole
10 kW FM Transmitters installed and taken into service at all places.
40 kVA UPS supplied and under installation at respective places.
15. 10 kW FM by 10 kW FM Transmitter at Daltonganj (DD site):

10kW FM Transmitter installed and taken into service. 40 kVA UPS

supplied and under installation.
16. 3 kW FM by 5 kW FM Transmitter at Puri (DD site):

5kW FM transmitter installed and taken into service. Technical bid

opened for re-erection of 50 M SS tower which got damaged due to
cyclone and is targeted to be completed by Mar’ 20.
17. 1 kW MW by 1 kW FM Transmitter at Joranda and Soro:

Transmitter installed at both places. 50M SS tower to be re-

tendered. 4-bay antenna & RF foam type cable received at site.
All zonal equipment procured except L/T panel at Joranda and A/C
plant at both places which are to be procured.

18. Digitization of existing Studios at Hazaribagh, Keonjhar,

Murshidabad, Purnea, Sasaram, Shantiniketan and Soro.
Digital hand held recorders, digital phone-in-consoles, OB Mixers
and Digital production consoles supplied. Work station received at
site. Purchase proposal for Digital audio Consoles of (31SITC+4)
stations and SITC of Servers and Radio Studio Automation System
software are under process.
10 kVA UPS inspected and to be delivered by Aug.’19. SITC of AC
plant at Daltonganj site instead of Soro and at Jeypore site instead
of Sasaram has been completed.

19. Refurbishing of studio at Sambalpur

Scheme completed.

20. 10 kW FM Transmitter setups (3 Nos. in NZ viz. Sitamarhi,

Bathanaha and Narkatiaganj,) along Indo-Nepal border:
10 kW FM transmitters received at D-6 Go-down. TE of Tech. bid of
RF cable with dehydrator & 6 bays antenna completed. Tender
floated for erection the 30 M interim mast as interim arrangement
and targeted to be completed by Dec.’19. Tender of 100 M tower
floated.

21. Replacement of High Power Medium Wave Transmitters in

LWE affected Areas (Jeypore, Bhawanipatna and Sambalpur
in EZ):
Above three projects have been commissioned. Tender of Mast
strengthening work to be floated by Aug.’19 for these places and
targeted to be completed for Jeypore & Bhawanipatna by Mar’ 20 &
for Sambalpur by Dec.’19.
