North East Zone

Agenda points of North East Zone regarding physical progress to
be discussed during final budget meeting (RE 2019-20) scheduled
to be held on 26.08.2019 at DG: AIR

PART-A: Civil Works

Civil Work (Continuing Schemes)
1. 1 kW FM Transmitter setups at 19 places under NESP-
Phase II:
CCW informed that building work at 7 places viz. Changlang,
Khonsa, Daporijo, Champhai, Kolasib, Tuipang & Udaipur had been
completed and handed over for carrying out installation work.
Anini: Proposal for shifting of location from Anini to DD site at
Namsai has been approved on 30.04.2019. Civil work to be
initiated. PE for building and security fencing submitted to AIR
Directorate in April’19. Sanction to be issued.
Tamenglong: Site taken over and Civil work to be initiated. PE for
building and security fencing submitted to AIR Directorate in
April’19. Sanction to be issued.
Zunheboto: Building works including fencing etc. completed. Hume
pipe replaced and latest status of the water supply is to be up-dated
which was to be through by March’19.

Civil works (New Schemes, 12th Plan)

2. Replacement schemes (FM Tx setups) :

Civil and electrical works at all places completed.

3. Refurbishing of Studio at Passighat :

Civil and electrical work including installation of early fire-alarm

system completed except some repairs in false ceiling of AC plant
section which is to be taken up.
4. Digitalisation of Studios :
Civil and electrical work completed at all sites.

5. Regional archival Centre at Guwahati :

Sanction issued for electrical & civil works and status of civil and
electrical works to be updated which was to be completed by
Mar.’19.

PART B: Equipment & Installation

Continuing Schemes

1. 100 W FM Transmitters under NESP (Ph-II)(100 Nos.):

Installation completed at 98 places. Two transmitters were diverted
to Neemuch (MP) and R&D (each one). Out of 98, 86(44+42)
transmitters have been commissioned till date. ZO to be submit the
time-line for commissioning of 12 nos. of remaining 100 watt FM
transmitter.

2. 19 nos. of 1 kW FM Transmitter setups under NESP(Phase II)

1 kW FM Set-up commissioned at 11 places viz. Goalpara, Nutun

Bazar, Cherapunji, Lumding, Phek, Ukhrul, Bomdila, Wokha,
Tuipang, Karimganj & Udaipur.
Installation of transmitters & 50 M tower had been completed at
2 places viz. Kolasib and Changlang. Transmitter at three places viz.
Champhai, Khonsa & Daporijo installed and tested on dummy load
but tower works are in progress and latest status to be updated
which were likely to be completed by Mar.’19. Installation of
transmitter being initiated & erection of tower works ordered at
Tamenglong and Zunheboto. Installation of transmitter is to be
initiated at Namsai.

3. Replacement of 300 kW MW Tx by 300 kW MW DRM

Transmitter at Dibrugarh.
Transmitter has been taken in regular service. ZO intimated that
tender of Mast Strengthening work to be floated and targeted to be
completed by Mar’20.

4. Replacement of 20 kW MW Tx by 20 kW MW Transmitter at
Tawang.
Transmitter has been taken in regular service. ZO intimated that
twist in mast observed, re-examined by IIT Guwahati and targeted
to be completed by Oct.’19.

5. Digitalization of studio: North-East Zone (14 Places)

SITC work of console and digital cabling has been completed at all
the places. Purchase order placed for work stations and material
supplied. Purchase proposal for SITC of servers and radio studio
automation system software under process.
6. Refurbishing of Studios:

Refurbishing of studios has been completed at Guwahati, Agartala,

Aizawl and Imphal, false-ceiling work completed at Kokrajhar and
studio refurbishing work at Kokrajhar yet to be completed.

7. Creation of new RNU at Passighat:

RNU at Passighat is ready but could not be commissioned. Matter
under consideration of PB Sectt.

12th Plan New Schemes

Replacement/up-gradation of existing FM Transmitters

8. Replacement of 10 kW FM Tx by 10 kW FM Tx at Imphal and
Agartala:
Transmitter being installed at TV site at Imphal and location of
transmitter has been decided by FM Design Section as per
concurrence of DG:DD. Transmitter at TV site at Agartala, new 6-
bay antenna & RF cable hoisted & test transmission being run.
9. Digitization of existing Studios at Belonia, Churachandpur,
Diphu, Haflong, Kailashahar, Lunglei and Tezu (seven
places):
Digital production consoles supplied. Purchase order placed for work
stations and material supplied. Purchase proposal for Digital audio
Consoles of (31SITC+4) stations and SITC of servers and radio
studio automation system software are under process.

10. Setting up of Regional Archive Center at Guwahati

Advance A/T placed for SITC of Regional Archive Centre with Media
Management System at AIR Guwahati. Layout plan of equipment
issued on 07.08.2019 by Studio Design Section.
