1 I/O ABEND during access to expanded cylinder

Phenomena When a volume is migrated from R450 (or earlier models) to R700 via
R600/R500, and a cylinder expansion is performed on this 3390-A
volume on R700, the following events may occur:
1. I/O access to expanded cylinder was abnormal with SSB=5860.
2. Pair creation of FCv2 or FCSE failed with SSB=77BC.
3. Pair creation of TCz failed with SSB=C4CE.
4. Pair creation of XRC failed with SSB=5860.

The problem occurs when all the following conditions are met.
(1) Dynamic Provisioning for Mainframe
(2) DKU emulation type is 3390-A.
(3) Cylinder expansion is performed.
(4) A volume that was formatted in R450 (or earlier models) is migrated
to R700 via R600/R500 by TCz or URz in either of the following cases.
(4-1) A volume is migrated from R450 to R500 or R600 first, and then
the volume is migrated from R500 or R600 to R700 using TCz.
(4-2) After a volume is migrated from R450 to RAID700 via R500/600
using TCz, a URz pair is created with this volume and another R700, and
a copy operation is performed.

2: R700 URz pairs not created between 3390-A and different emulation.
3: R450 or earlier models do not support emulation type 3390-A.
(5) I/O issued to expanded cylinder area, or TCz/FC/XRC pair is created.

The following phenomena may occur.
1) An I/O error occurs with Read I/O to the secondary volume of Copy-
on-Write Snapshot (CoW). (SSB EC=3287 occurs.)
2) In the configuration where the secondary volume of Universal
Replicator (UR) is the primary volume of CoW, the following phenomena
may occur.
2-1) UR pair operations (Resync, Flash Suspend, and Delete) do not
complete. (SSB EC=EC84 occurs frequently)
2-2) The JNL usage rate in RCU is increased improperly, and the pair
suspends due to full JNL in the end. (SSB EC=EC84 occurs frequently).
3) In the configuration where the UR secondary volume is the primary
volume of Shadow Image (SI), the following phenomena may occur.
3-1) UR pair operations (Resync, Flash Suspend, Delete) take long. (SSB
EC=EC84 occurs frequently)
3-2) The JNL usage rate in RCU is increased improperly, and the pair
suspends due to full JNL in the end. (SSB EC=EC84 occurs frequently)

Phenomenon 1) After I/O error the phenomenon may occur when all the
following conditions (A) to (E) are met.
(A) RAID700 Ver.70-02-70-00/00 and later
(B) OPEN system connection
(C) CoW secondary volume is not an external volume
(D) CoW secondary volume capacity exceeds 3TB
(E) Read I/O is issued to an area over 3TB in CoW secondary volume
Phenomenon 2) If UR operation does not complete and JNL usage rate is
increased improperly. The phenomenon occurs with the following
conditions (A) to (G) met.
(A) RAID700 Ver.70-02-70-00/00 and later
(B) OPEN system connection
(C) UR secondary volume is combined with CoW
(D) UR secondary volume is not an external volume
(E) UR secondary volume capacity exceeds 3TB
(F) Write I/O issued to area over 3TB in UR primary or secondary VOL.
(G) UR pair status is PAIR or COPY, and the CoW pair status is PSUS
Phenomenon 3) UR operation takes long. In UR, JNL usage rate is
increased improperly. Phenomenon occurs when all the following
conditions (A) to (G) are met.
(A) RAID700 Ver.70-02-70-00/00 and later
(B) OPEN system configuration
(C) UR secondary volume is combined with SI
(D) UR secondary volume is not an external volume
(E) UR secondary volume capacity exceeds 3TB
(F) Write I/O issued to area over 3TB in UR primary or secondary VOL.
(G) UR pair status is PAIR or COPY, and the SI pair status is PSUS(SP)
