Origin of Russia: Nomanist vs. Anti-nomanist

The identity of the origin of Russia was still on debate. Both side of historian has its own
claims whether they side on Normanist theory and the anti-Normanist theory. But lots of
historians and author favored the Normanist side than the Anti- Normanist. According to the
theory of the Norman, the creators of the Russian state are Norsemen (Vikings of Scandinavian
origin). Specifically, the Normans made the first Russian country — Novgorod Russia and
Kievan Rus. Slavs, Scandinavians gave the chief princes Rurik, Oleg, Igor, Svyatoslav.

But in anti-Normanist they believed that the origins of Russian identity were originated
from the Slavs, because for them the Slavs was the first who inhibited in the land that is now
called Ukraine and Russia. But in some accounts and articles would say that Normanist
originated the Russian identity and it was started in the guidance of the prince of the Varangians
prince Rurik. Before Rurik became the ruler the Slavs was divided from different tribes.
Sometimes this tribe would not get along to each other so they decided to choose a ruler and
choose Prince Rurik. During the rule of Rurik the capital was in Novrogod and at that time they
call themselves as Rus’.

I conclude that Russia was originated from the Vikings the Scandinavians or the
Varangians. And is supported the Normanist theory. Aside from that it was confirmed that the
Normanist has a great influence of the statehood of Russia. In normanist lots of articles and
accounts that would support the claimed of the theory. But in the side of the anti- Normanist it
lacks the evidences that can support its claim.
