A. Introduction: Three phase AC motor having voltage rating up to 690V &KW rating =>3.7
classified as Low Voltage (LV) motor. These motors are either fed through DOL /VFD/Star delta.
Ref: Fig.-1 for typical Low Voltage Squirrel Cage Induction motor.

i. Type of AC Motor: There are two type Low Voltage AC motors namely Squirrel Cage
Induction motor & Slip ring Induction motor.

ii. Application: Low Voltage AC Motors are used in Pumps, Fan, Blower, Conveyors,
Compressors, etc. applications.

B. Scope: This document is used as a Standard Maintenance Procedure (SMP) for all Low
Voltage (up to 690V AC) Induction motors in the Plant.

E. Dos and Don’ts
