Pankajakasthuri

Rediscovering Ayurveda for health and well-being of the
modern world
“Ayurveda will be changing the way

we achieve complete healthcare and harmony of body,

mind and soul, not just in India but the world over.”

This was the observation of Dr. J. Hareendran Nair decades ago, when he

founded Pankajakasthuri in 1988.
Year 2019

According to CII,
• The Global Ayurvedic Market accounted for $3,428.0 million in 2015 and is
expected to reach $9,791.0 million by 2022, growing at a CAGR of 16.2%
from 2015 to 2022.
• The $ 4 billion domestic market comprises ethical, classical, over-the-
counter, personal care and beauty products. It also includes services like
medical, well-being or medical tourism services.
• The industry is facing a shortage of professionals including doctors,
paramedical staff, therapists and nurses and shortage of quality raw
materials.
Pankajakasthuri, in just 30 years, has
played an important role in the revival
of Ayurveda on all fronts - through its
research centre, herbal gardens,
products, medical college and hospital,
panchakarma centres and medical
tourism.
A catalyst for change

The Pankajakasthuri story began

in 1988, when Dr. J. Hareendran
Nair, then a young ayurvedic
doctor, decided to dedicate
himself to promote and
propagate Ayurveda as an
effective, alternate system of
medicine by striking the right
balance between traditional
practices and modern day
requirements. He realized for
this to happen, he needed to do
what was never done before.
The challenge

• First, to remove the misconceptions and scepticism about Ayurveda.
• Second, to introduce a system based, quality controlled preparation of medicine (like
modern medicines).
• Third, to do systematic research, substantial clinical trials and documentation (that
were critical for Ayurveda to gain more global acceptance).
• Fourth, create a brand under which the formulations can be marketed.
• Fifth, create new formulations for new age ailments like cancer, AIDS amongst others.
• Sixth, make formulations that are patient friendly.
• Seventh, categorize Ayurvedic preparations into FMCG, OTC, Ethical and Classical
products.
The
accomplishment
The vision was achieved through an integrated,

holistic and multi-level approach by mainstreaming

Ayurveda through Brand Pankajakasthuri along with

the establishment of institutions, centres and

outreach programmes.
Pankajakasthuri Herbal Research Foundation

• Founded in 1983 with the objective of preserving and propagating the true essence of
Ayurveda, the Foundation is dedicated to innovating, developing and testing of new
products. It is also actively involved in public health initiatives and social welfare
schemes.

• Pankajakasthuri Breathe Eazy was the first product and proved to be one of the most
effective and popular remedies for breathing disorders.

• Today, the Foundation owns patents to manufacture more than 100 products that
provides relief and cure for ailments deemed non curable.
