The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that

whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves. Focus & hard work is the real
key to success. Keeping eyes on the goal, and just keep taking the next step towards completing
it.

I, Akhand Pratap Singh is honoured to introduce myself as the present convenor of the Hostel
& Campus Welfare Committee of this university.

As the Student Bar Council Member, I would like to extend a warm welcome to one and all
present here.

The Hostel & Campus Welfare Committee was the third committee constituted under the
Constitution of National Law University, Assam. The committee is a student-centred
committee made solely to cater to the personal and collective needs of the students, in order to
make their lives comfortable.
Our committee bridges the gap between the students and the administration, acting as the
mediator and ensuring the upward movement of complaints and the downward movement of
rules and regulations. All personal concerns and complaints of the students are catered to
immediately through the drafting of applications and quick communication.

All Hostel and Campus related rules and regulations from the administration are interpreted
and intimated to the students. We also enable changes in the rules and regulations and the
introduction of new rules for the smooth functioning of the students.
We are an autonomous committee. However, due to the interdependence of our committee with
various other committees like the Cultural Committee and the Moot Court Committee, we
collaborate with the committees and provide them with all the required assistance.

Keeping this in view, certain instances of this are the conduction of our first edition of Sports
Fest named “Abhiveera” and the upcoming National Moot Court Competition. We have been
providing all the necessary for the smooth conduct of the events like the construction of the
volleyball court, lighting, etc. Also, we have promised all sorts of campus related needs like
accommodation for the upcoming moot court competition as well.

The committee also looks after the hygiene and sanitation in the hostel & campus. Pest control
measures have been taken up to keep the campus free of any kind of infections that might be
caused to the students.

Water coolers have been put up in each of the hostels so that students get cold drinking water
during the summers. Geysers have been installed on each floor of both hostels to serve students
with hot water during the winters.
At the moment, our committee is suffering a major predicament, i.e., dust due to construction.
We are channelling all our efforts to eliminate this problem, by making sure that there is an
active involvement of the students as well through suggestions.

Without taking much of your time, I would like to wind up by saying that the hostel & campus
committee is at its best for the welfare of the students and looks forward to serve the university
and the students for their betterment.
