SUBJECT - ORAL COMMMUNICATION IN CONTEXT

TOPIC Nature and Elements of Communication


CONTENT STANDARD The learner understands the nature and elements of oral communication in context.

SPECIFIC LEARNING At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
OUTCOMES 1. Decode message in a line with different inappropriate words;
2. Express ideas related to verbal and non-verbal communication;
3. Identify the context from non-verbal movements;
4. Employ the skills required for verbal and non-verbal communication in a short presentation;
5. Internalize the usage of verbal and non-verbal communication in different situations.
TIME ALLOTMENT 6 Hours

LESSON OUTLINE:

1. INTRODUCTION/REVIEW: Give their learning about the previous lesson.


2. MOTIVATION: The students will unleash the message of the lines with different inappropriate words.
3. INSTRUCTION/DELIVERY: Interactive discussion of the Nature and Elements of Communication.
4. PRACTICE: Students will have a game where they can apply and experience both verbal and non-verbal communication.
5. ENRICHMENT: The students will answer questions regarding this topic.
6. EVALUATION: The students will be having group presentations for the assigned portion from a specific piece.

DATE/REMARKS PROCEDURE
INTRODUCTION (10 minutes)
1. Have a short recap of the last lesson.
2. Get the students’ opinions regarding communication.
3. Give feedback on their answers which will lead to the Nature and Elements of Communication.
MOTIVATION (20 minutes)
1. The students will have a short game which is called “The Words Sounds Familiar.”
2. The class will be divided into two groups. The teacher will be posting lines which have different inappropriate words.
3. They are going to identify the hidden message, think of the answer as fast as they can and tell it immediately to the teacher.
INSTRUCTION DELIVERY (30 minutes)
1. The class will have a highly interactive discussion on the Nature and Elements of Communication.
2. The teacher will elaborate the Nature and Elements of Communication.
PRACTICE (60 minutes)
1. The students will play a game where they can apply and experience and verbal and non-verbal communication in order to decode the
message. This game is called, ‘charades’.
2. The students will be grouped into four. They will choose a representative from the group. The representative will act the first word
that will be given, the next person will pass the message by acting what has been acted by the first person, the next ones will be doing
the same and the last person on the line will be the one to guess and speak out the word.
ENRICHMENT (20 minutes)
1. The students will raise questions in case that they have.
2. The teacher will also ask questions which pertains to the topic.
EVALUATION (20 minutes)
1. The students will have a group presentation provided that everyone will participate.
2. The class will be divided into three. Each group will receive a portion of a piece for speech choir, which is entitled, “Peace not War.”
3. The students will employ the skills required for verbal and non-verbal communication
VALUES INTEGRATION: The students will be able to understand that unity plays a big role to have a better outcome of work.
