-GRAND ENTRANCE -
J:Greetings! I am Doctor Jesus Christmas. And we are here, me and my beautiful nurses, to
help you be aware of some preventive measures on different kinds of diseases.
K: Yes, that’s definitely true. Dr. Christmas will be here in your community to give you more
knowledge about these diseases. Right nurse therese?
T: Yes, nurse Khisha. Now everyone gather around and pick a spot as Dr. Christmas will
begin..
J: To start with this seminar I will be discussing to you some of the most common diseases in
our community. I will be discussing about metabolic, cerebrovascular and occupational
diseases.
Metabolic disorder:
It occurs when abnormal chemical reactions in your body disrupt this process. When this
happens, you might have too much of some substances or too little of other ones that you
need to stay healthy and one of its certain hereditary condition is diabetes.
J: keep your glucose level with in normal, you must exercise at least 150 min/week, take the
prescribed medicines and avoid too much of food rich in carbohydrates and cholesterol.
J: CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASE
a group of brain dysfunctions related to disease of the blood vessels supplying the brain.
Hypertension is the most important cause; it damages the blood vessel lining, endothelium,
exposing the underlying collagen where platelets aggregate to initiate a repairing process
which is not always complete and perfect. Stroke is one of its certain hereditary conditions.
K: Also to add to what Dr. said, “Sustained hypertension permanently changes the
architecture of the blood vessels making them narrow, stiff, deformed, uneven and more
vulnerable to fluctuations in blood pressure.” To prevent stroke, Given the disease burden of
strokes, prevention is an important public health concern. Conversely, aspirin prevents
against first stroke in patients who have suffered a myocardial infarction or patients with a
high cardiovascular risk. Because stroke may indicate underlying atherosclerosis, it is
important to determine the patient's risk for other cardiovascular diseases such as coronary
heart disease
K: and doctor, I would also like to add one or two more things of my knowledge about some
diseases common in our communities. I would be talking about Acute and chronic non-
communicable respiratory diseases.
K: Respiratory diseases can be classified in many different ways: by the organ involved, by
the pattern of symptoms or by the cause of the disease. The main thing is to always be
careful around food because some foods can cause allergic reactions and incite breathing
difficulties.
Some common examples include sea foods prawns, some fatty fish, peanuts,
bananas, grapes, etc. In summer, bad weather condition mean sandy and dusty weather or
some may affect in winter also, but unfortunately we do not experience that in the
Philippines.
Non-communicable diseases are those diseases that are not caused by
a pathogen and cannot be shared from one person to another. may be caused by either the
environment, nutritional deficiencies, lifestyle choices, or genetic inheritances. This.is now
responsible for the leading causes of death in both developed and some developing
countries.

a car accident?

during the first week or two after your car accident, even if it was a fairly low speed impact
or a small damage collision.
KR: What are the things needed to keep children safe at home?

T: So, we will now proceed. Other than hospitals another likely place for health care
treatment are rehab centers. A way of obtaining information is by asking somebody through
interviews. Nutritionist are the professionals that are part of planning comprehensive health
plans who help with dietary needs. A way of data gathering that involves filling out forms is
through surveys.
Eileen: In case we get sick, is there any emergency service we can count on?
Ki: Yes, it’s emergency medical services. It is an emergency service dedicated to providing
out of hospital acute medical care and/or transport to definitive care, to patients w/ illnesses
and injuries w/c the patient or the medical practitioner believes constitutes a medical
emergency.
Ki: EPIC program is to educate and train participants on core all hazards emergency
preparedness and response from the perspective of public health infectious disease
emergencies.
Ki: Emergency Preparedness and infection control (EPIC) program and Geographic
Information system (GIS)
Allaine: Doctor, my wife here is pregnant as you see, I would like to know if there are risks
of maternity growth and development?
Jordan: Many women are preparing their physical and mental health for conception and
pregnancy knowing that often these factors can be controlled. Many unforeseen and
currently uncontrollable risks associated with pregnancy and stillbirth, such as chromosomal
abnormality, affect women below the age of 35 too. However the following risks are
recognised:
Medical
Genetic
Miscarriage
Birth
Physical
Maternity
ALLAINE: I know there are also some problems in previous pregnancy. Which are, A
premature baby An underweight baby A baby that weighed more than 10 pounds A baby
with birth defects A previous miscarriage.
JORDAN: some also are A late (post term) delivery (after 42 weeks of pregnancy), Rh
incompatibility that required a blood transfusion to the fetus, Labor that required a cesarean
