**PROJECTS
You will receive a rubric before each assignment that will outline how you will be marked.

Each project is graded according to the parameters of the assignment. In addition you are
being assessed on a NUMBER of things. These all directly relate to the Alberta High School
drama curriculum.

1) DID THEY COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENT ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS? All

assignments are given to you with specific learning objectives in mind. Your grade is determined
by how well you have met these objectives.

2) IS THIS PROJECT POLISHED / WELL THOUGHT OUT? (Or is it just thrown together at the
last minute? Is it rehearsed or just “talked about”?)

3) ARE THE STUDENTS STRETCHING THEMSELVES IN THIS ASSIGNMENT? IS THIS

ASSIGNMENT IMAGINATIVE, CREATIVE, & ORIGINAL? (Or are they showing the same sort
of assignments, characters, or project work over and over again?)

4) ARE ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE GROUP CONTRIBUTING TO THE PROJECT? IS THE
ENSEMBLE SOLID? (Or is one person consistently dominating / upstaging the rest? Is there
anyone who is just along for the ride?)
5) DOES THIS PROJECT CONTAIN AND DEMONSTRATE APPROPRIATE ENERGY
LEVELS? (Or are the students just going through the motions? Is “un-channeled energy”
dominating the scene?)

6) ARE THE STUDENTS FOCUSED AND CONCENTRATING? (Or are they distracted,
uninterested, etc.?)

PSC re-write policy
1. It is expected that students are prepared and present for exams or assessments.
Re-writes for exams will be dealt with on an individual basis and as follows:
a) Request to ReWrite form to be completed, signed by student, teacher and parent
b) It is expected that if a re-write is granted, the student will attend Four (4) Blocks of WIN time
to prove competency.

2. The re-write mark is the mark that stands. Re-writes are expected to be completed in a timely
fashion and out of course time.

3. If a student legitimately misses an exam (excused absence), the exam is written on the first
day of return of the student or as decided upon in consultation with the Teacher.

--- When it comes to drama performances you are expected to be there for all. If you miss the
performance that affects everyone and you can’t have the entire cast, crew and audience come
back when it is convenient for you. Of course extreme circumstances will occur and those will be
dealt with on a case by case basis.
