Traquina MATH
9-Sampaguita Sir Dain

REFLECTION

Weeks before the school year 2018-2019 starts, I already have myself prepared for the
common weakness of the students (including me of course) which is the subject Math. I have myself
taught by my cousin the known basic concepts and topics –just a few because I don’t want myself
spending the rest of my vacation thinking and discussing about the said subject- that is going to be
discuss on our 9th grade. We talked first about the Math terms that I need to know in order to avoid
the confusion during the short discussion, then we proceed to the quadratic equation which is pretty
familiar with me and then we ended up talking with the use of scientific calculator (which clearly I
didn’t understand because my brain can’t accept too much information anymore LOL) And I am really
glad for the knowledge that my cousin passed upon me because the first grading of the subject Math
is really near-hard-to-learn level for me if I don’t have enough knowledge about the topic. And what I
mean by near-hard-to-learn-level is that the topic is sometimes confusing for me (and most of my
classmates also) especially when we are doing some activities and we need to answer some
problem. The fact also that all of the boys who are placed and sitting on the front rows is such a
blessing and such an honor for me because sitting on the front row means you have the advantages
to hear and understand clearly the discussion of lesson unlike some of my girl classmates who are
complaining that they can’t hear the discussion clearly (that’s why they kept on insisting that the
sitting arrangement should be reverse for the third and fourth/last grading but luckily, our Math
teacher refused to do that –Yay-) And the following grading –which is the 2nd grading- is also such a
pain in head because it is really hard to understand (most of the times) and really confusing because
there are many things that we must learn but it is such a good thing that every discussion, there’s
always an activity or a quiz to understand more (explanation every checking of papers) The 2nd
grading is all about the kinds of variations (direct variation, inverse variation, joint variation and the
last is combined variation), the exponents (zero negative and rational and also the rules that we must
apply for adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying) and the radicals and solving radical equations
(we also discussed the rules or solving radical equations) And then we proceed with the third grading
still sitting on the front row with the introduction of the quadrilaterals. How funny it is that when we
were young, we only discussed the different shapes and now we are discussing the missing angle of
a shape-specifically quadrilateral. We discussed first the properties of parallelogram and the
corresponding shapes under the parallelogram and also the properties of the other branch of
quadrilaterals because knowing the properties of each shapes is an easy way to identify the shapes
that we are discussing. We also had our discussion about the theorems with the quadrilateral like
midline theorem, theorem on isosceles trapezoid and etc. And then here’s come the final and the
hardest stage of Math, the fourth and last grading. We were introduced first with the six trigonometric
ratios, the trigonometric ratios involving special angles, angles of elevation and angles of depression
and with the oblique triangles. And this grading is the most confusing and hardest among them but I
am glad that I finished the whole grading still have my self at the most normal and sane state. And I
am happy that my hardworks throughout the whole grading were paid-off by having a 90+ grades and
I am wishing that my grade for the last quarter will not fall down as I fall down unto my bed right after I
go home but instead rise.
