Rationale

The importance of this product is to eliminate the unpleasant odor inside the refrigerator
caused by the bacteria that is formed when we store variety of foods inside it. Likewise, it also
helps in maintaining the freshness of foods, thus we can store as many foods as we want.

Specific Problem

1. What made this product different from the usual ref deodorizer?
2. How effective is this product?
3. Who will benefit in using this ref deodorizer?

Introduction

Background of the Study

This study aims to discover ways on how to eliminate the unwanted smell inside the
refrigerator. Everytime we open the refrigerator, we are surprised with the smell that we never
know where it came from. The researchers made a thorough research and found out that aloe
vera can be very helpful in terms of eliminating bad odors. The researchers also found out that
mint has a pleasant smell that could replace the bad smell into a refreshing one and charcoal
briquettes can be used to absorb moisture and odor.

Statement of the Problem

This product is highly useful especially to the mothers whose everyday chores include
maintaining the freshness of the surroundings especially where we store our foods, that is the
refrigetator. The researchers found out that aloe vera, mint and charcoal will make a good
combination.

General Problem

This study aims to find ways or solution on how to maintain the pleasant smell of a
refrigerator.

Engineering Goals

This study aims to achieve the following:

- To remove the bad odor inside the refrigerator.


- To replace the bad odor with a pleasant and refreshing smell.

Expected Outcome

 It will remove the bad odor inside the refrigerator

Significance of the study

The significance of the study is to find solution to the undesirable scent inside the
refrigerator.

Hypothesis

The products are proven to help aid in removing the stinky smell inside the refrigerator.
It aims to predict the efficiency of aloe vera and charcoal as ref deodorizer.

Scope and Limitation

The product will greatly benefit mothers whose everyday problem concerns mainly in
maintaining the cleanliness of the house. The study is proven to be safe to everybody including
children.

Review and Related Literature

Aloe vera – sometimes described as “wonder plant”, is a short stemmed shrub. Aloe vera
is a genius that contains more than 500 species of flowering succulent plants. Aloe vera is
helpful as tooth gel, for constipation, for diabetes, protects the skin from the UV rays, as well as
removing the unpleasant smells.

Mint – it is a calming and soothing herb that has been used for thousands of years to aid
with upset stomach or indigestion. Mint is very cooling and has a sweet fresh smell that will
help as a deodorizer.

Charcoal- a black lightweight carbon residue produced by removing water and other
volatile constituents from animal and plant materials. Usually produced by slow pyrolysis- the
heating of wood or other organic material in the absence of oxygen. Charcoal whitens the teeth,
