Notes:

The Statistics Canada 2011 Census and National

Household Survey (NHS) were the central sources of
information for the Durham Profile. Other data sources
include: the Durham Region Planning Division, Canada
Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and the Municipal
Property Assessment Corporation.

Participation in the 2011 NHS was voluntary as opposed

to the 2006 Long Form Census which was mandatory.
There is a risk of inaccuracies in the NHS data due to
non-response bias. As such, the NHS data provides a
useful tool for general geographica comparisons but care
should be taken when used for historical comparisons.

The data used to produce the statistics used in this

infographic summary are based on tables contained
within the appendix of the Durham Region Profile.
The report is available in PDF format on the Region’s
website and CDs are available from the Planning and
Economic Department on a cost recovery basis.
