1. Are higher education institutions responsible to changes in the demand

of the labor market?

Answer: Over recent decades the youth unemployment rate remains

at a high level. Higher education institutions can sometimes be responsible to

the changes in the demand of the labor market by giving the students enough

attention, teaching them well, share thoughts about the real corporate world,

for them to build a confidence and positive outlook in life. In that way, they can

face or meet the demands needed of the labor market. At some point, there’s a

percentage that I don’t agree about Higher Education be responsible to changes

in demand of the labor market, because Higher Education can do nothing about

the decision of the labor market if they doesn’t hire the students in Higher

Education Institutions. They can only give advice or suggestion to the labor

market but they can’t force them to decide to hire their students. It wil be

depends on the student output.

. Successful development and effective use of human resources leads to

sustainable development and to an achievement of a balance at the

distribution of its benefits. The existence situation in the educational system

and the need to change its status in the information economy increases the

existing problems in this area dramatically. First of all, this intensifies the crisis

of funding and reduces the efficiency of the educational system. The problem of

"educated unemployed” emphasizes a serious gap between education, the real

life and the level of scientific knowledge development.

2. What do you think of the country’s educational system? What are the

good things about it and what its the system?

Answer: Education in the Philippines is provided by public and

private schools, colleges, universities, and technical and vocational institutions.

Funding for public education comes from the national government.

At the basic education level, the Department of Education (DepEd) sets overall

educational standards and mandates standardized tests for the K–12 basic

education system, although private schools are generally free to determine their

own curriculum in accordance with existing laws and Department regulations.

On the other hand, at the higher education level, the Commission on Higher

Education (CHED) supervises and regulates colleges and universities, while the

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for technical

and vocational institutions regulates and accredits technical and vocational

education programs and institutions.

For the academic year 2017–2018, about 83% of K–12 students attended public

schools and about 17% either attended private schools or were home-schooled.

By law, education is compulsory for thirteen years (kindergarten and grades 1–

12). These are grouped into three levels: elementary school (kindergarten–grade 6),

junior high school (grades 7–10), and senior high school (grades 11–12); they may also

be grouped into four key stages: 1st key stage (kindergarten–grade 3), 2nd key

stage (grades 4–6), 3rd key stage (grades 7–10) and 4th key stage (grades 11–12).

Children enter kindergarten at age 5.

Institutions of higher education may be classified as either public or private

college or university, and public institutions of higher education may further be

subdivided into two types: state universities and colleges and local colleges and

universities.

Good things about educational system here in the Philippines:

- Profession : The vital part of an individual’s life is to determine what he

wants, in order to specialize in what he is eager to learn.

Precisely knowing what you want, makes it easier to “plan” your life

and what you want to become.

- Confidence : Yes, being educated leads to gaining confidence. Your

degree is a proof of your knowledge, which, mostly, is taken seriously

and makes your ideas/thoughts more valuable and important.
