Kompetensi Dasar (Pengetahuan dan Ketrampilan):

3.4 Membedakan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks

deskriptif lisan dan tulis dengan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat

wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal, pendek dan sederhana, sesuai dengan

konteks penggunaannya.

4.4 Teks deskriptif

4.4.1 Menangkap makna secara kontekstual terkait fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan

unsur kebahasaan teks deskriptif, lisan dan tulis, pendek dan sederhana terkait

tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal.

4.4.2 Menyusun teks deskriptif lisan dan tulis, pendek dan sederhana, terkait tempat
wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal, dengan memperhatikan fungsi sosial,

struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan, secara benar dan sesuai konteks.

Learning Objective(s) (use ABCD principles):

a. Students are able to differentiate social function, generic structure, and language

features of some descriptive texts in form of spoken or written by giving and

asking for information related to tourism destination, famous historical building

shortly and simply based on the the context of using properly.

b. Students are able to understand the meaning contextually related to social

function, generic structure, and language features of descriptive text spoken and

written, short and simple related to tourism destination, famous historical

building shortly and simply based on the the context of using properly.

c. Students are able to arrange the meaning contextually related to social function,

generic structure, and language features of descriptive text spoken and written,

short and simple related to tourism destination, famous historical building

shortly and simply based on the the context of using properly.

Main Learning Materials:

Descriptive Text Material

1. Definition of Descriptive Text

Descriptive text is a kind of text which describes particular thing, animal, person, or others, for
instance: our pets or a person that is known well (Wardiman, 2008: 122).

2. Social Function of Descriptive Text

The specific function of descriptive text is to give description about an object (human or non-
human) (Pardiono, 2007: 34).
3. The Generic Structure of Descriptive Text

Generic structure are the special characteristic of language in the text. The generic structure of
descriptive text are as follow:

a. Identification

It is part of paragraph which introduces or identifies the character to be described. It can be


called general description of the subject. Usually it contains object’s name, kind of the object,
etc.

b. Description

It is part of paragraph which describes parts and characteristics of the person or something that
will be described in detail, so the readers can get clear description of the subject.

4. The Language Features of Descriptive Text

According to Wardiman (2008: 122) the language features of descriptive text are as follow:

a. Focus on one specific object

b. The Use of Simple Present Tense

Pattern:

(+) S + V1 s/es

Example: They write a letter

(-) S + do/does + not + V1

Example: I do not bring money.

(?) Do/does + S + V1

Example: Does she go to campus?

c. The Use of Adjectives

Example: thick, long, funny, love

Learning Activities:

Opening 1. Teacher greets the students and ask how are they doing.

2. Teacher asks the captain of the class to lead their friends to

pray.

3. Teacher checks the attendance list.

4. Teacher reinforce the students by asking them some

tourism places. Ex : Goa Kreo

5. Teacher asks student to give a short review about goa kreo

Main Activity Activity 1

1. Students are devided into five groups

2. Representative for each group come forward to take a set

of cards and board to perform silent card shuffle

3. Teacher asks the students from every group to place the

card on the board silently.

4. After the board has filled, the teacher lets the group to

discuss it. It is possible for them to rearrange the cards

after the discussion.


5. Teacher asks the students to move to other groups to

observe the others’ group result and discuss with them

about the result.

6. Students go back to their own groups and discuss the final

result related to what they have learned from other groups.

7. Every group displays their final result to the class.

8. Teacher shows the correct answer and explain it to the

whole class.

Activity 2

1. Teacher divides the class into four groups

2. Teacher displays four pictures about tourist destinations in

Semarang

3. Each group is given one picture to be discussed and

described.

4. The students in group divided into pairs

5. The pairs can continue the discussion deeply

6. after that students develop their ideas from discussion and

create a paragraph individually

Closing 1. Teacher encourage the students to recall what they have

learned.

2. Teacher ends the meeting by praying.
