Moderator :
Thank you for the time given to me. Good morning everybody..
My name is …………… as a moderator in this Toastmaster today. I’m very proud
of standing here and meet all of you here. I would like to deliver my grateful to the
almighty god, Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, who bestows us, so we are able to
hold this meeting and also thanks to all of the participants who attends here today.
Well, now please welcome to our Table Topic today, ………………, who
explains about the cataract in general. For ………….., time is yours.

Table Topic :
Thank you for the time given to me. My name is …………… as a table topic in
this Toastmaster today. I would like to explains about cataract in general.
A cataract is a lens opacity or cloudiness. Cataracts can develop in one or both
eyes and at any age. Cataract may occur because cigarette smoking; long-term use
of corticosteroids, especially at high doses; sunlight and ionizing radiation;
diabetes; obesity; and eye injuries can increase the risk of cataracts. The three
most common types of cataracts are defined by their location in the lens: nuclear,
cortical, and posterior sub capsular. Visual impairment depends on the size,
density, and location in the lens. More than one type can be present in one eye.
That’s all from me. I return back the time to the moderator.

Moderator :
Give applause to our table topic. Now please welcome to the first Speaker of the
day who explains it more detail about cataract. For ……………., time is yours.

First Speaker :
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. Thanks for the time given to me. My name
is ……………….. as the first speaker today. Now I’m going to explain about the
clinical Assessment and Diagnostic Methods, Medical Management Cataract.
Clinical Manifestations
• Painless, blurry vision.
• Perception that surroundings are dimmer (as if glasses need cleaning).
• Light scattering; reduced contrast sensitivity, sensitivity to glare, and
reduced visual acuity.
• Other effects include myopic shift (return of ability to do close work [eg,
reading fine print] without eyeglasses), astigmatism, monocular diplopia
(double vision), color shift (the aging lens becomes progressively more
absorbent at the blue end of the spectrum), brunescens (color values shift
to yellow-brown), and reduced light transmission.
Assessment and Diagnostic Methods
• Degree of visual acuity is directly proportionate to density of the cataract.
• Snellen visual acuity test.
• Ophthalmoscopy.
• Slit-lamp biomicroscopic examination.
Medical Management
No nonsurgical (medications, eyedrops, eyeglasses) treatment cures
cataracts or prevents age-related cataracts. Studies have found no benefit from
antioxidant supplements, vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, and selenium. Glasses
or contact, bifocal, or magnifying lenses may improve vision. Mydriatics can be
used short term, but glare is increased.
Okay that’s all from me. I return the time to moderator.

Moderator :
Give applause to the speaker. Well, that’s good explanation, now please welcome
to second speaker of the day. For ……………., time is yours.

Second Speaker :
Thanks for the time that is given to me. Let me introduce myself. My
name is ………… Putri, as the second speaker in this toastmaster. Now, I will tell
you about our topic today about the cataract like the leader and the first speaker
said before. And listen to me please.the surgical management and nursing
management about Cataract
Surgical Management
In general, if reduced vision from cataract does not interfere with normal
activities, surgery may not be needed. In deciding when cataract surgery is to be
performed, the patient’s functional and visual status should be a primary
consideration. Surgical options include phacoemulsification (method of
extracapsular cataract surgery) and lens replacement (aphakic eyeglasses, contact
lenses, and intraocular lens implants). Cataracts are removed under local
anesthesia on an outpatient basis. When both eyes have cataracts, one eye is
treated first, with at least several weeks, preferably months, separating the two
procedures.
Nursing Management
• Withhold any anticoagulants the patient is receiving, if medically
appropriate. In some cases, anticoagulant therapy may continue.
• Administer dilating drops every 10 minutes for four doses at least 1 hour
before surgery. Antibiotic, corticosteroid, and anti-inflammatory drops
may be administered prophylactically to prevent postoperative infection
and inflammation.
• Provide patient verbal and written instructions about how to protect the
eye, administer medications, recognize signs of complications, and obtain
emergency care.
• Explains that there should be minimal discomfort after surgery, and
instruct the patient to take a mild analgesic agent, such as acetaminophen,
as needed.
• Antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and corticosteroid eye drops or ointments
are prescribed postoperatively.
Okay that’s all from me. I return the time to moderator.

Moderator :
Give applause to the speaker. Well, that’s good explanation, now please welcome
to Speech Evaluator. For ……………., time is yours.

Speech Evaluator :
Thanks for the time you’ve given to me, let me introduce myself first. My name is
…….. as Speech Evaluator.
Well, according to me and based on my observation today:
The table topic speaker and speaker explained the topic so clearly and easy to be
understood because the dictions were very good. They explained it well, relax,
and their speaking were very good, event their pronunciation was little bit not well
enough.
For Table Topic Speaker :
He pronounced the word “occur” with “okur” but it should be pronounced /difect/
He pronounced the word “common” with “comon” but it should be pronounced
/camen/
For Speaker :
She pronounced the word “mild” with “mild” but it should be pronounced /maild/
She pronounced the word “recognize” with “recogniz” but it should be
pronounced /recognaiz/

Those are my corrections and my suggestion just need more practice in

pronouncing the word and also read loud fast to costume the tongue say the word
more fluently, thank you.

Moderator :
Give applause to our speech evaluator. That should be correct evaluation which
very important for our skill specially in speaking. Now please welcome to our
Grammarian. For …………………, time is yours.

Grammarian :
Thank you for the chance that has given to me. My name is ……………….. I am
a grammarian. Well, I am going to give some advice of speaker to related the
grammar. I think the all grammars of speaker and all of the members are good
enough. The speaker was explaining the topic with the correct grammar and the
all of the members was too. I think we can learn more, we can repair it, and
should be better than Toast Master today.
Okay, that's all for me as a grammarian in this toast master today.

Moderator :

terms and that’s also very important for us and it needs to be attention carefully.
