Okowa Establishes Project Monitoring Unit


As part of his efforts to promote
t r a n s p a re n c y a n d a c c o u n t a b i l i t y i n
government, on Tuesday, September 3rd
2019, at the State Executive Council
meeting, Governor Okowa announced the
creation of a Project Monitoring Unit.

The Project Monitoring Unit will serve as a


clearinghouse on the status and expected
benefits of all the projects that are being
e x e c u t e d b y G o v e r n o r O k o w a ’s
administration.

Moving forward, all Ministries, Departments


and Agencies of the Delta State Government
will be required to submit periodic updates
t o t h e P ro j e c t M o n i t o r i n g U n i t f o r
assessment and evaluation.

Ministry of Works, Information Commissioners


Inspect Major Roads
On Wednesday, September 4th,
the Delta State Commissioners for
Works and Information inspected
the Warri-Sapele-Benin Highway,
as the Delta State Government is
set to intervene in the
rehabilitation of sections of the
federal road.

The Commissioners for Works and


Information also inspected the
Asaba/Ughelli Express Road, at
Oghara Iyede in Isoko North LGA.

Okowa Calls for Mentorship in Civil Service


On Wednesday, September 4th, the Delta
State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, urged
retired top civil servants to support the
mentoring of the state’s civil servants. He
said this at a meeting with the Association of
Retired Heads of Service and Permanent
Secretaries.

Governor Okowa stated that retired senior


civil servants should be involved in the
mentoring of the civil servants in Delta State
to ensure that the civil service remains
effective.

Governor Okowa also commended the


retired civil servants for providing the State
Government with a report for the reform of
the Delta State Civil Service.

Ministry of Education
Expands Back to
School Program
Delta State’s Ministry of Basic and
Secondary Education is set to partner with
corporate bodies and individuals for its
#BackToSchool Programme — an offshoot
of its #SupportASchool initiative.

Starting this academic session, the


#BackToSchool programme will aim to
tackle cultism, drug abuse, bullying and
other social vices in public schools across
the State.

National Youth Games: “Bring Home the Trophy,”


Okowa Charges Delta State Team
On Saturday, September 8th, Delta State
Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, has charged the
state’s team to the 5th National Youth Games
(NYG) holding in Ilorin, Kwara State, to do their
best to retain the trophy, which Delta State won
during the last edition.

The Delta State team will participate in 34


sports, including swimming, wrestling, combat
and track and field, at the National Youth Games
which begins on Tuesday, September 11th.

“Sports remains one of the cardinal objectives of


our #StrongerDelta agenda. We have continued
to dominate in every sport in the country,
because of our sustained investments in the
industry and youth development,” Governor
Okowa said.
