21
Locking
The Noa III enables the user to lock the programs, on three different
levels.

Level 1 (keys locking)

Level 2 (lock out program)

Level 3 (presetting maximal rates)

Level 1 – key locking

The Noa III keys locking function disables all but the info key, START/OK
(during setting mode) and STOP/NO (during operation mode) keys.

Level 2 – program locking

The Noa III has a unique option, which enables the user to lock out the
numeric keys, so that entered parameters, or set programs cannot be changed
once they are set.

This option is important, for example, when children are users, when there is a
danger that the child might play with the pump and unknowingly change the
program; or for home-care patients whom repeating the same program every
day, it's important to have a lock-out program, to prevent mistakes in setting.

Level 3 – maximal rate locking

The Noa III provides the option of setting a maximal rate in the technician
mode. The program rate can be adjusted up to a preset limit. For home patient
(mainly for TPN or PCA treatments), who must repeat the same program
daily, the option of adjusting the delivery regiment is very important.

22

Operational Checkout
Introduction

The operation checkout procedure in this section determines if the device

operates properly after it has been repaired. If the device fails any part of
the Operation Checkout, the fault must be corrected prior to placing the
device in service. Please become familiar with all the checkout
procedures before beginning.

The following test equipment is required to perform the Operational

Checkout procedure:

 NoaSet
 Solution container (distilled water, 0.9 sodium chloride ect)
 Precision Syringe
 Electronic Scale
 Oscilloscope

The flowchart on p. 54 illustrating the maintenance procedure of the

device. Once a problem has been isolated to a single assembly, the
assembly should be replaced in according with the disassembly procedure
provided on p. 58-61 .After repairing the device should be calibrated, as
described on p. 30-31.

When all maintenance procedures are completed, perform the Operational

Checkout as explained below.

Administration set Placement

To avoid possibility of fluid contacting the air sensor and pump

mechanism, the solution container should be spiked and set primed before
opening the pumps door. The container should also be placed low enough
to permit a loop in the tubing to the side of the device. Position the
container so that accidental spillage onto the device will be minimized.
Do not stretch the set when removing it from the packing or loading
it into the pump.

Functional Testing

Please become familiar with the device Operator’s Manual before

performing those tests. The procedures in this section are designed to
check the ability of the device to pump infusion prior to test the
effectiveness of its alarms. If pump fails to perform as described or stops
with a failure alarm – troubleshoot and repair (as described on p. 15-17)
before attempting to place the device in service.

1. Using a solution container and a NoaSet or a Microbore set.

2. Spike the solution container and fully prime the set. The priming
can be done only with the pump. Press the syringe key and confirm
with the START/OK key to start priming for the default setting
volume.
3. Remove container so that the fluid level is a minimum of 10’ (65
cm) above the top of the pump throughout the test. Make sure that
the tubing is clean and dry before placing it in the pump. Make sure
that the tubing is placed and seated properly in the guide channel.
Ensure that there is no slack in the tubing and that it is not
stretched, chinked or pinched before closing the pump door.
4. Load the administration set into the pump. Check that the key is
properly located in the pump. If excessive resistance is felt, check
that the set is located properly through the tubing guide. Never use
tools or excessive force to close the pump door.
5. Place the distal end of the administration set in a container or sink
to dispose the pump solution.

Note: In case the pump door cannot be opened, remove the door
label, and force the locker to open.

Self Test
