Taping

I. Introduction
Taping is the linear measurement of the horizontal distance between two points using a
surveyor’s tape. This may involve measuring the distance between two or more fixed points.
This kind of method is measuring the distance by direct measurement with a tape. The distance
will be measured with a surveyor’s tape which is much more precise than the distance obtained
by pacing.
II. Objective

 To develop the skills of taping the distance on a level on an uneven ground.

 To identify the potential errors.

III. Instruments and Accessories

 Ballpen
 Sheet of paper
 Metric tape

IV. Procedure
1. First, prepare the materials in conducting the laboratory which is the surveyor’s tape.
2. Assign your members to their designated position.
3. Record the data you’ve gathered.
4. Compute the mean of the distance and out on a table form.

VII. Discussion
It is the linear measurement of the horizontal distance between two points. There is a
tape person, guide, and the balancer, to make the both ends of the tape in the elevation. It
takes time to get the measurement of the distance, and patient.
We measure AB and BA and recorded the measurement which is AB measure 137.78
while BA 137.74. After the activity we compute the data we’ve gathered to get its relative
precision.
VIII. Conclusion
Therefore to avoid the error we should take the measuring seriously and we should
know how to compute it properly. It is very important that there is someone who will guide the
tape person to do the measurement correctly.
