School Times
School commences at 8:00am. It is important for students to arrive before this time to be organised and
ready for the routines of the day. If students arrive after 8:05am they require a late note from the office
before coming to class. At the end of the day we reflect and hand out important notes and messages. School
finishes at 2:20pm
School Uniform
Students are reminded to wear the correct uniform throughout the week. Rosebery shirts are to be worn
each day and students are encouraged to wear their House Shirts of Friday. Hats are to be worn in the
playground at all times. All uniform items are on sale in the front office – please ensure everything is clearly
labelled.
Allergies
Please remember we strongly advice against bringing nuts and nut products at school, we have a number of
children at Rosebery who have severe allergies. We ask that you are vigilant with the contents of your child’s
lunchbox and avoid Nutella, nut bars, peanut butter etc.
Absences
While we encourage attendance at school, we understand that at times students can be unwell and need
time to recover. If your child is absent from school for any reason please ensure the school is informed by
contacting the absentee number: 89305140. Absences can also be informed via emailing either reception or
your child’s class teacher. If your child is absent and you have not contacted the school we will be contacting
parents and caregivers on that given day. Please state the reason for your child’s absence.
Home Reading & practice work
As students have now well and truly progressed into Upper Primary, each student is now subscribed to the
Lexile Reading Program. Students have completed an online quiz which levels them and then we access a
specific library to choose a book from their level. Students are encouraged to read this book as their nightly
reading material, rather than the smaller traditional home readers. Comprehension quizzes can be
completed online at school during the week. A grid with literacy and numeracy activities are also sent home
inside a folder for students to work on over the week. Students are responsible to record their spelling words
for each fortnight.
Electives
We welcome any donations of wool, cardboard paper towel tubes, string, thread and beads of any type to
complement our elective program on a Wednesday afternoon.
