Reflection

Christian Emphasis Week

By: Louie D. Alosado BSA 1 - A

Christian Emphasis Week also known as CEW, a week or realizations and enlightenment on my
part. All of the things which happened from the start of the week until the end was full of
surprises and literally new experience for me, but it made me realized a lot of things, most
especially in my spiritual being. I witnessed how Filamerians devoted to serve God even in just
simple thing/s. I also witnessed not the encouragement to be in the religion, but the
encouragement to hear and enlightened by the gospel of the Almighty father. The theme "living
with Jesus" reminds me the importance of being in the care of God, and it must be remembered
until the end of my/our days. At this generation, "what we know now is to feed or to care only
for ourselves - for pleasure, and entertainment, we don't have any time for anything else, we
are not caring for others or society, and we do first the things which can satisfies our senses or
flesh" according to Pastor Russell Ban, which really reflect in myself since as I noticed in me that
I have a characteristic of being fond of appreciating material thing rather than spiritual
blessings, that was changed by this activity.

The CEW, is one of the greatest activities being held and being imparted to the students of FCU.
It is nice to know that despite of the busy schedule of everyone, still the students, teachers, and
other faculty members make time to engage in those kind of spiritual gathering. The activity
conducted also help me and other student to strengthen our faith and focus as college life is
now becoming difficult.

Personally, in so many years of my life I have been involved in so many activities which aimed to
develop my skills, knowledge, and physiques through studying/learning in schools, seminars and
the like. But, at the end of the day, I still have the feeling of emptiness and being lost. So that, I
tend to engaged in some talks, bible groups, and the like, to be close and even to become closer
to Him, but I just ended up from what I have been before. But the idea of "living with Jesus"
really turned my views and perspectives in life. As it was said in Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified
with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in
the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me," the text
of this year CEW. Christian Emphasis Week also enable me to learn that if I just commit my life
to Christ who is the ultimate saviour of the world, I wont need to worry for anything else. The
activity also taught me that knowing Jesus is learning to refuse to what is wicked and evil. Living
with Jesus would result to our salvation, protection, and provision, which I think the ultimate
things we need here in world. We are here in world not to seek for golds, for fame, and for
things, instead we are here to seek God, Christ, and our purpose, through this we can find
wholeness and contentment. I also learned that "Jesus give already his life to us," but one of the
things which made me sad about the talks of the different preachers is the question "what can
you do for Christ?" He never ask for anything else but just to accept him in our lives, because if
we do that we are not already the person who we are before, because for all the things we will
going to do his guidance, love, and protection will still reign over us.

Lastly, it was also enabled me to fully accept Jesus Christ, and as I accept Him as my personal
saviour, a lot of miracles happened to me, a lot blessings I have acquired, and a lot of joy came.
All of my worries and fears have been diminished as I know that God is with or within me. All of
my anger and envy was disappeared, and was changed by happiness. All of my negativity most
especially on the course I have chose, was transformed into positivity. Personally I got negative
thoughts in my studies if I can and able to finish it as an accountancy student, except from it is
difficult I also have problem financially. But in God's presence I able to hold on my faith to him.

At the end, I realized that if we just open our heart for God, we're able to see beyond what we
can see by these two sinful eyes. And let's keep it open to see God's movement for the sake of
the entire world. One of the learning which I got from one of the preachers, Pastor Russell Ban
which is "Man is in pain not because to suffer but for us to be brave enough to live a life". Let
God renew, reborn, and revive us through Jesus who saved the whole world. Keep our faith tight
and we will be lived in a happy and peaceful life.
