Chi-Square Test of Independence for Gender and Burnout Level

Burnout
Gender Mellow Low Moderate High Total
Male 2 7 10 5 24
Female 4 8 12 4 28
Total 6 15 22 9 52

Pearson Chi2(3) = 0.7228 p-value = 0.868

Pearson Chi-square test of independence gives a value of 0.7228 with p-value of 0.868. Since p-value is
greater than 0.05 level of significance, hence, we cannot reject the null hypothesis that there is no
significant difference in the level of burnout to the hospital personnel in terms of gender. Thus,
respondents in opposite sex have no significance differences in the level of burnout they experience.

Chi-Square Test of Independence for Age and Burnout Level

Burnout
Age Mellow Low Moderate High Total
21-30 0 3 10 4 17
31-40 5 8 7 3 23
41-50 0 2 2 2 6
51-above 1 2 3 0 6
Total 6 15 22 9 52

Pearson Chi2(9) = 10.5798 p-value = 0.306

Pearson Chi-square of independence between age brackets and burnout level of the respondents gives a
value of 10.5798 with p-value of 0.306. Since p-value is greater than 0.05 level of significance, hence, we
cannot reject the null hypothesis that there is no significant difference in level of burnout experience by
the respondents in terms of age. Thus, respondents in different ages do not have significance
differences in level of burnout that they experience.

Chi-Square Test of Independence for Position and Burnout Level

Position in Burnout
Hospital Mellow Low Moderate High Total
Medical 1 8 12 7 28
Office 2 3 7 1 13
Maintenance 3 4 3 1 11
Total 6 15 22 9 52

Pearson Chi2(6) = 7.5130 p-value = 0.276

Pearson Chi-square test of independence between position in hospital and level of burnout experience
of the respondents gives a value of 7.5130 with p-value of 0.276. Since p-value is greater than 0.05 level
of significance, hence, we cannot reject the null hypothesis that there is no significant difference in level
of burnout experience by the respondents in term of position in hospital. Thus, respondents in different
position experiences no significant differences in the level of burnout experience.

Chi-Square Test of Independence for Years in Service and Burnout Level

Years in Burnout
Service Mellow Low Moderate High Total
1 to 5 2 7 15 5 29
6 to 10 3 6 4 1 14
11 to 15 0 0 1 3 4
16 to 20 0 0 1 0 1
21 above 1 2 1 0 4
Total 6 15 22 9 52

Pearson Chi2(12) = 18.1508 p-value = 0.111

Pearson Chi-square test of independence between years in service and level of burnout experience of
the respondents gives a value of 18.1508 with p-value of 0.111. Since p-value is greater than 0.05 level
of significance, hence, we cannot reject the null hypothesis that there is no significant difference in level
of burnout experience by the respondents in term of position in hospital. Thus, respondents with
different years in service do not have significant differences in the level of burnout experience.

SUMMARY
Degrees of Burnout
Variables Freedom Chi-Square P-value Remarks
Gender 3 0.7228 0.868 non-signicant
Age 9 10.5798 0.306 non-signicant
Position in Hospital 6 7.513 0.276 non-signicant
Years in Service 12 18.1508 0.111 non-signicant

For all the independent variables; gender, age, position in hospital and years in service, Pearson Chi-
square test of independence shows no significant differences. Thus, the differences in the level of
burnout experience by the respondents cannot be attributed to their differences gender, age, position
in hospital and years in service.
