Holy Eucharist

The Eucharist is the mysterious center of all the sacraments. Thus, the celebration of
the Holy Eucharist is “the source and the summit of the Christian life.”

Eucharist comes from the latin word, Eucharistia which means thanksgiving.

The transformation of the brad and wine into Christ’s body and blood is what we call
TRANSUBSTANTIATION.

When did Jesus instituted the Eucharist?

Jesus instituted the Eucharist on the evening before his death, on the night when he
was betrayed (1 Cor. 11:23), when he gathered the apostles around him in the
Upper room in Jerusalem and celebrated the LAST SUPPER.

“Do this in memory of me.”

-1 Cor. 11:24

The Eucharist – source and summit of ecclesial life

1324 The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.”

1325 “The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in
the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in
being. It is the culmination both of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and of
the worship men offer to Christ and through him to the Father and the Holy Spirit.”

1326 Finally,by the Eucharistic celebration we already unite ourselves with the
heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life, when God will be all in all.

1327 In brief, the Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith: “Our way of thinking
is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking.”

Others will use a verse or passage as a point to launch their waiting upon the Lord,

like to be doing something rather than just sitting down. This style is often used by
