4 Architecture
This chapter describes the system architectural features of ZTE EC40EB Cabinet and
main technical indices of the devices that ZTE EC40EB Cabinet accommodates
including the power supply system, environmental and power supply monitoring module,
environmental sensor, cable distribution module, and heat dissipation system.
ZTE EC40EB Cabinet is wholly-welded with ample intensity and rigidity. The main device
compartment, temperature control compartment, battery compartment, and cable
distribution compartment made of hot-galvanized sheets ensure excellent anti-corrosive
performance. Each door is equipped with access alarm function connected in series.
Alarms will be generated if any door is illegally accessed.
The doors of the main network device compartment and the cable distribution
compartment have big opening angles and are equipped with wind-resistant rods to
ensure reliable windproof performance. ZTE EC40EB Cabinet meets the installation and
cabling requirements of frontal cable outlet subracks. The cable egress and ingress
holes are all configured on the bottom of the cable distribution compartment, facilitating
cable distribution inside the cabinet. ZTE EC40EB Cabinet has the following features:
The high-intensity shell ensures normal operation against 67 m/s strong winds.
The door fixing device ensures that ZTE EC40EB Cabinet can withstand the wind
load at a wind speed of 22 m/s, guaranteeing personal safety of the maintainers.
The power supply cables, signal cables, and optical cables have independent cable
ingress holes to prevent from interfering with each other.
The high-quality EPDM three-compound sealing strips with a service life of 20 years
effectively ensure excellent sealing performance of the connecting parts.
The cabinet is sprayed with even and smooth ZTE light gray coatings with a service
life of more than 10 years.
The network device inside ZTE EC40EB Cabinet can use either AC power supply or
battery when the mains power fails. This section introduces the basic technical indices
including the power supply unit, battery pack, and lightning protection module. Figure 4-1

ZTE EC40EB Cabinet gets power supply from the ZXDU58 B900, an -48 V/30 A built-in
power supply unit. The ZXDU58 B900 Power Supply Unit is equipped with ZXD030 S480
30 A rectifier with the normal AC input voltage range of 85 V to 300 V. Meanwhile, the
ZXDU58 B900 Power Supply Unit provides power supply system status and battery
status monitoring functions and provides RS232, RS485, and RS422 interfaces to
implement centralized monitoring.
The dimensions of the ZXDU58 B900 Power Supply Unit are 132.5 mm (H) x 482.6 mm
(W) x 319 mm (D). Figure 4-2 shows the appearance of the ZXDU58 B900 Power Supply
Unit (Front Cable Egress):

4.3 ETMB
The environmental and power supply monitoring card (ETMB) integrates primary power
supply monitoring, secondary power supply monitoring, -48 V DC power supply
monitoring, AC power supply monitoring, speed adjustable fan monitoring, heat
exchanger monitoring, MDF alarm monitoring, and multiple environmental monitoring
functions including humidity, temperature, flood, anti-theft, poisonous gas, and vibration
monitoring.
The ETMB also provides five reserved analog variable input interfaces, twenty-one digital
variable input interfaces, and six digital variable output interfaces for monitoring and
controlling variable expansion as well as interconnecting with heterogeneous devices.
In terms of telecom functions, the ETMB provides seven serial interface channels
including five RS232 level interfaces and two RS485 logical interfaces. Figure 4-5 shows
the appearance of the 19-inch 1U ETMB unit:
Figure 4-7 shows the rear panel of the ETMB. The rear panel has Run, Alm, and Test
LED indicators.

ZTE EC40EB Cabinet uses the FA8-ZX-10 Ten-Pair Connection Module as the external
line module. The FA8-ZX-10 Ten-Pair Connection Module is a double-layer folding unit
with contact springs and leverages the insulation displacement connector (IDC)
technology to reliably terminate external cables and connect patch cords. The contact
springs are in constant opening status and form an electrical circuit when being inserted
with security units. With ground and alarm strips, the FA8-ZX-10 Ten-Pair Connection
Module provides alarm and ground functions to protect personal and device safety.
Figure 4-13 shows the appearance of the FA8-ZX-10 Ten-Pair Connection Module:
ZTE EC40EB Cabinet uses the STO-ZX-16 Sixteen-Pair Connection Module as the
internal line module. The STO-ZX-16 Sixteen-Pair Connection Module leverages the IDC
technology to reliably terminate internal cables and connect patch cords. The contact
springs are in constant closed status and implement the circuit breaker function when
being inserted with breakers. Figure 4-14 shows the appearance of the STO-ZX-16
Sixteen-Pair Connection Module:
ZTE EC40EB Cabinet dissipates heat through the heat exchanger. The cold air
generated by the heat exchanger is exhausted through the ventilation holes on the left
side of the cabinet.
The fan box of the ZXA10 C300M discharges the warm air generated in the main device
compartment. The heat exchanger converts the warm air into cold and guides the cold air
into the main device compartment. Figure 4-15 illustrates the internal air circulation
passage:

When the external cold air enters the heat exchanger, the heat exchanger guides it to the
main device compartment and exhausts the warm air. Figure 4-16 shows the external air
circulation passage:
