Satan has ability to suggest doubts and to devise objections to the pointed testimony that God

sends, and many think it a virtue, a mark of intelligence in them, to be unbelieving and to
question and quibble. Those who desire to doubt will have plenty of room. God does not
propose to remove all occasion for unbelief. He gives evidence, which must be carefully
investigated with a humble mind and a teachable spirit, and all should decide from the weight
of evidence. God gives sufficient evidence for the candid mind to believe; but he who turns
from the weight of evidence because there are a few things which he cannot make plain to his
finite understanding will be left in the cold, chilling atmosphere of unbelief and questioning
doubts, and will make shipwreck of faith. CCh 93.4

(2Pe 3:17 KJV) Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also,
being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

(2Pe 3:18 KJV) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

“Our condemnation in the judgment will not result from the fact that we have
been in error, but from the fact that we have neglected heaven-sent
opportunities for learning what is truth.”

“The instruction to be communicated to John was so important that Christ came from heaven
to give it to His servant, telling him to send it to the churches.” 7SDA Bible Com 954

Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected
knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast
forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

The Bible is God's great lesson book, His great educator. The foundation of all true science is
contained in the Bible. Every branch of knowledge may be found by searching the word of
God. And above all else it contains the science of all sciences, the science of salvation. The
Bible is the mine of the unsearchable riches of Christ. {COL 107.2}

The present is a time of overwhelming interest to all living. Rulers and statesmen, men who
occupy positions of trust and authority, thinking men and women of all classes, have their
attention fixed upon the events taking place about us. They are watching the relations that
exist among the nations. They observe the intensity that is taking possession of every earthly
element, and they recognize that something great and decisive is about to take place,--that the
world is on the verge of a stupendous crisis. {Ev 194.2}

The Bible, and the Bible only, gives a correct view of these things. Here are revealed the
great final scenes in the history of our world, …--
Prophets and Kings, pp. 536, 537. (1916) {Ev 194.3}
The great controversy is nearing its end. Every report of calamity by sea or land is a testimony
to the fact that the end of all things is at hand. Wars and rumors of wars declare it. Is there a
Christian whose pulse does not beat with quickened action as he anticipates the great events
opening before us? The Lord is coming. We hear the footsteps of an approaching God. {Mar

Everything in the world is in agitation. The signs of the times are ominous. Coming events cast
their shadows before. The Spirit of God is withdrawing from the earth, and calamity follows
calamity by sea and by land. There are tempests, earthquakes, fires, floods, murders of every
grade. . . . Mar 35.3}
Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the
things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my
pleasure:

Dan 8:19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the
indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

Present the eternal principles of truth. Show what the Word of God declares is to
take place on this earth. The God who gave Daniel instruction regarding the
closing scenes of this earth's history will certainly confirm the testimony of His
servants as at the appointed time they give the loud cry. 21MR 436.6

Prophecy the Foundation of Our Faith—Ministers should present the sure word
of prophecy as the foundation of the faith of Seventh-day Adventists. The
prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation should be carefully studied, and in
connection with them the words, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away
the sin of the world.” Ev 196.2

The twenty-fourth chapter of Matthew is presented to me again and again as

something that is to be brought to the attention of all. We are today living in the
time when the predictions of this chapter are fulfilling. Let our ministers and
teachers explain these prophecies to those whom they instruct. Let them leave
out of their discourses matters of minor consequence, and present the truths that
will decide the destiny of souls.—Gospel Workers, 148 (1915). Ev 196.3

The Study of the Books of Daniel and the Revelation

God's Spirit has illuminated every page of Holy Writ, but there are those upon whom it
makes little impression, because it is imperfectly understood. When the shaking comes,
by the introduction of false theories, these surface readers, anchored nowhere, are like
shifting sand. They slide into any position to suit the tenor of their feelings of bitterness....
Daniel and Revelation must be studied, as well as the other prophecies of the Old
and New Testaments. Let there be light, yes, light, in your dwellings. For this we need to
pray. The Holy Spirit, shining upon the sacred page, will open our understanding,
that we may know what is truth....

There is need of a much closer study of the word of God; especially should Daniel
and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work. We
may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the papacy; but we
