Study Goals: Knowledge:
Describe the principles of natural product processing especially one
derived from plants, from the cultivation process to the
phytopharmaceutical products.
Discuss how to produce and prepare crude drug, solvents commonly
used in extraction, methods for extraction of metabolites, production
of essential oil, quality evaluation of crude drug, extract and essential
oil, aromatherapy, formulation to produce good quality of
phytopharmaceutical products
Skill:
Prepare good quality crude drugs and herbal medicines with different
levels of clinical evidence, such traditional medicines so called jamu,
standardized herbal medicines, Phytopharmaca.
Prepare formulation of herbal medicines on the basis of different
pharmaceutical dosage form such as tablet, capsule, cream, lotion, etc.
Competence:
Design several type of pharmaceutical dosage form herbal medicines
including preparation of crude drugs
Content: Introduction; the principles of natural product processing especially from
plants; crude drug preparation and production including cultivation,
selection, cutting, grinding of herbal medicines material; production of
herbal medicines with several type of pharmaceutical dosage form; handling
of herbal medicines products with different level i.e. traditional herbal
medicine so called jamu, standardized herbal medicines and Phytopharmac
products; production of essential oil, quality evaluation of crude drug,
extract and essential oil, aromatherapy; formulation to produce good quality
of phytopharmaceutical products.
Assessment: Written exam (mid and final exam), and tasks
