Industry Condition
The Indian Ethnic weaving and hand Embroidery industry plays a
very imperative role in the India’s economy. In case of employment,
it is the second largest sector next only to agriculture. A strong and
diverse raw material base, cheap labor, an ever growing domestic
and International market and relatively better technologies are the
key strengths of the Indian Ethnic Garment sector that have
resulted in such a pronounced prominence of this industry.

Obsolete production system, capitalistic control, improper financial
facilities, irregular supply of yarn, shortage of power, poor working
capital, accumulation of huge stock and marketing of products.
Lack of innovative pattern of production, inadequate finance,
procurement of raw-materials, product developments, quality
control, cost control and above that. illiteracy of the weavers adds
to the adversities of weavers and small businesses involved in the
industry.

Problem
We are manufacturing products, with obsolete designing which in
result are not of giving anything new to End Consumer, weavers
and artisans only create products keeping in mind of his daily
wages which he is supposed to get from aggregators or gaddidar
and don’t think beyond that, they lack designing which is most
important essence of fashion, fashion is constantly evolving
weavers and artisans are not able to match pace with larger
customer base Globally.
On outset Retail form of this business looks very attractive and
glamorous ,wedding shopping make it look very profitable and cash
rich business with huge margins ,but in process the Entrepreneur
forget lot of stock is being accumulated and increasing
digitalization ,cost of marketing is always burden on retailer ,sooner
or later these retailers feel the heat ,looking increased competition
second generation is not coming to business and migrating and

looking for jobs ,Moreover this burden of accumulation of stock is
trapping business owners in vicious circle of debt, where they are
fetching loans and creating debts resulting in NPAs which is in a
way harming economy on one hand we are trying to promote new
startups and on other hand we are not able make these traders,
artisans family stick to these business

established designers to work with artisan groups to develop new
product lines for new markets.

she presented a solution to her Designer colleagues in the fashion

Neha is Collaborating with Major Marketing stakeholders in
Industry, who can promote the concept between upcoming
Designers / Established Designers so she can help artisans to
survive with their form of Art, Also her social Initiative Ranian
Foundation is working with National Skill Development Council to
train the youth and women with their respective art form. She has
set up Self-help groups in Lucknow and Farrukhabad which are
major area of hand work and foundation is helping these artisans
to fully equipped with contemporary form of skill

vast experience of over 10 years in fashion & apparel industry. She
has been the founder of Brand Ranian and Tartan Exports, under

her leadership Tartans is touching new horizons at every front. Her

innovative and energetic approach is well poised for the future
growth of the company.
Neha believes that Indian Ethnic Apparel industry is up for a

Location of the Factory

Tartans Export Pvt Ltd has four state-of-the-art production units
located at Noida in close vicinity of each other near national
highway (NH-24) in vast industrial belt, a location, very
conveniently placed and connected by rail, road and air to the other
parts of the country. It is just 35 km from Indira Gandhi International
airport.
Tartans Export Pvt Ltd has one the most modern manufacturing
and testing facilities supported by fully documented production and
quality control systems. It has installed several highly sophisticated
and computer-controlled production machines. These machines
have been procured from the leading international machinery
manufacturers.

The factory and its operations are controlled by ERP system. It
integrates data handling across various functions in the entire
factory, which ensures speed, accuracy, and efficiency. The entire
factory has been networked within with 15 computers and all
internal communications are carried out on internal emailing with
extreme efficiency. Electronic data interchange (EDI) facility has
been installed to exchange information in real time with select
clients.

using a lot of traditional handwork and embellishments. It has
mastered the art of using the master craftsmanship of Indian
artisans for high volume production, meeting international quality
standards expected by branded garment buyers. Main products

Company’s motto is ‘Quality First’. It works for continuous
improvements in all spheres. The company has put an ambitious
TQM program in place and is implementing several continuous
improvement programs (kaizen) like quality circles, suggestion
schemes etc. Total employee involvement is at the core of all these
programs. The company strives to do right the first time. Its entire
stress is to make defect free garments the first time, which do not
need any repair or alterations. In order to accomplish complete
control on the quality of the finished garments, stringent quality
checks on the raw materials have been implemented. All incoming
fabrics are subject to 4-point system. Fully equipped in-house
laboratory tests a variety of fabric parameters. Vendor rating
system is in place to continuously screen and motivate the vendors
for superior performance.

 Embroidery /Printing
The company has tied-up with computerized embroidery and also
subcontracts fabrication outside whenever we over exceed us in
capacities. All other embellishment processes are generally
subcontracted. There are several thousand artisans and
craftsmen distributed in different centers of Northern India who
work for the company on these specialized hand processes for
garment embellishments. Different centers are specializing in
different types of work e.g. Tie & Die is a specialty of Rajasthan,
bead and sequence work is done in centers in UP. Adda work is
done in our factory by contract labor specially trained for this type
of work and is also subcontracted outside.
