ACKNOWLEDGMENT

This report would not be possible without the help and proper guidance of

some important people.

The students behind this report would like to express their heartfelt

gratitude to the following:

To their subject professor, Dr. Luna G. Madera, who continuously gave

pieces of advice and guided them toward the end of this output.

To the officials of City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, most especially to

the city agricultural office headed by Madam Flora G. San Felipe, who unselfishly

provided all the information needed for the success of this report. Also, to the

City Mayor, Hon. Arthur B. Robes, for allowing the students to evaluate the

Urban Gardening program of City of San Jose Del Monte Bulacan.

To all the clienteles and the beneficiaries of the said program, for their

inputs that made this report more comprehensible.

Lastly but most importantly, to the Almighty God who guided and gave the

researchers the knowledge and skills needed for this output.

II.PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

A. OBJECTIVES

The Urban Gardening Program in City of San Jose Del Monte Bulacan

aims to:

1. encourage San Jose Del Monte community to engage in

agriculture;

2. promote organic vegetable;

3. make their own source of livelihood; and

4. support recycling.

B. SERVICE PROVIDER

The city government and the Department of Agriculture (DA) cooperate

with each other to provide accessible service to the program. One of the services

is the techno demonstration with the primary purpose of showcasing the

applications, feasibility, performance and method of the concept for new

technology so as the recipients will have the idea to convince them of the viability

relative to the program. Meanwhile, the seeds and seedlings which are being

packed by the city agriculture office are provided by the chosen bidding private

company.

C. TARGER CLIENTELE

The target clienteles of the Urban Gardening Program are the Pantawid

Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) members which they are required to maximize
yield in whatever space is available at their home, the Home Owners Association

(HOA), selected Public Schools within the city through Gulayan sa Paaralan

Program, and the bona fide residents of 59 barangays of San Jose Del Monte,

Bulacan.

D. SOURCE OF FUND

According to the City Agriculture Office, the primary source of fund is the

Local Government Unit (LGU) of City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. It is also

supported by the Department of Agriculture since it is responsible for the

promotion of agriculture development and generates work opportunities for

farmers, fishermen and other rural workers.
