Shut Down Procedures

WARNING: DIRECT EXPANSION SYSTEMS HAVE REFRIGERATION CIRCUITS OPERATING AT HIGH

PRESSURES. UNAUTHORISED TAMPERING MAY CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.

It is essential for starting, shutting down, emergency operation and fault finding to know the location of the
following components:

(a) Main isolator (integral to Unit or local position)

(b) ON/OFF key on the Display of the Air Handling Unit.
(c) All valves likely to affect water supply to humidifier (when fitted)

UNIT IS DESIGNED AND BUILT FOR CONTINUOUS OPERATION AND IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE
SYSTEM IS KEPT RUNNING DAY AND NIGHT TO MAINTAIN STABLE ROOM CONDITIONS.

Short Period§

Should you require the equipment to be shut down for the weekend or Holidays, no special precautions are
required. Each unit may simply be turned “off” at the controller display and switched back “ON” when required. The
ON/OFF key, NOT the isolator must be used.

Alternatively, the “Run and Stop” days or times can be set in the controller software.

Long Period§

If the plant is to be shut down for longer periods – for instance seven days, this can be done by switching
OFF at the ON/OFF key, then Switching OFF the Main Isolator, and closing the local mains water supply to the
humidifier. When restarting the plant, follow the same instructions but in the reverse order.

Indefinitely§

When an equipment to be taken out of service for an indefinite period, it is advisable to have the services of a
qualified air conditioning engineer to shut down the equipment. An engineer will also be required when re-starting
the plant after the shut down period.

§ - For units fitted with chilled water cooling and/or L.P.H.W. heating, the main power should remain
“ON” for at least the stroke time of the valve actuator (250 seconds maximum) to ensure that the valve closes
fully.

Emergency Procedures

In any cases an air conditioning equipment fails to maintain the correct conditions, please contact the service
office and give a concise report on your problems.

(a) Check fault read-out on microprocessor controller display.

(b) Water supply to the humidifier is on (when fitted).
(c) ON/OFF switch is in the “ON” position.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the inter-relationship of temperature and humidity, high temperature and low humidity or
low temperature and high humidity can occur simultaneously. In such cases resolve the temperature first as it will
probably rectify the humidity.

High Temperature

Access temperature setpoint page and set a lower setpoint.

Monitor conditions and guard against over-cooling by adjusting the setpoint accordingly.

Low Temperature

Access temperature setpoint page and set a higher setpoint.

Monitor conditions and guard against over-heating by adjusting the setpoint accordingly.

High Humidity

Access humidity setpoint page and set a lower setpoint.

Monitor conditions and guard against over-dehumidifying by adjusting the setpoint accordingly.

Low Humidity

(1) Ensure that there is water supply to the humidifier cylinder.

(2) Access humidity setpoint page and set a higher setpoint.
Monitor conditions and guard against over-humidifying by adjusting the setpoint accordingly.

IMPORTANT:

IN ALL CASES THE REASON WHY AUTOMATIC CONTROL DOES NOT HOLD CONDITIONS SHOULD BE
INVESTIGATED BY A QUALIFIED ENGINEER.
