Math Curriculum
Envisions Math
• This year, we will be using the Envisions curriculum
• Third grade is a very important year for mathematics. Learners will dive into
multiplication and division, becoming fluent in facts
• Students will use their understanding of number and operations to solve real
world multi-step problems.
• As the year advances, students will use their understanding of numbers to
represent fractions, determine measurement and calculate elapsed time.
• Third graders are also introduced to measurement using perimeter, area and
volume.
• Third grade focuses on conceptual understanding using diagrams, accountable
conversation, explanations and representations to demonstrate their
understanding.
Each night the students
should be studying their
multiplication facts. It is
important that these facts
are memorized and become
fluent!

Writer's Workshop
Amplify -Science
Third grade science is supported by the Mrs. Gottlieb, third grade classroom
teachers and the Amplify Science curriculum. Through this curriculum,
students will learn concepts across the disciplines of Life Science, Earth and
Space Science, Physical Science , and Engineering Design.
Together, the units address 100% of the Next Generation Science Standards
for grades K-8 and a significant number of the Common Core State Standards
for English Language Arts, Literacy in Science and Technical Subjects, and
Math. Every unit in the curriculum has hands-on materials to allow students to
roll up their sleeves and conduct hands-on investigations. Each lesson also
incorporates literacy elements such as reading informative texts and writing
detailed scientific explanations in response to research and investigations.
