3D Maze

Due ​October 3

Option #1 - 3D Maze
It is very important to draw & plan out your maze with your group, ​start with the outside and
fill in.

Things to think about :


Will you have obstacles?(holes, dead ends..Etc)
Where is the end? How do you know you have reached it?

Students are asked to :


● Work in small groups (Max 3) Everyone needs to collaborate on the planning, and have a job for
the building.
● Use any of the Makerspace lab materials and any recycled materials from home.
● Design a 3 dimensional maze with a portion that moves throughout it (Marble, Ball or something
you create.
● Stay organized and keep all designs and worksheets in their folder.
● Create a design unique to them and ​include their blueprint designs in their folder.
● Consider all aspects of the maze planning it from the outside in.
● Build, test and record their tests. Then make a plan for how they will fix their problems.
(Everything will be recorded and kept in your folder, which will be handed in with your
final product!)
● Keep their projects in class in a tucked away place, and clean up before the end of each class.
● Present their end project to the class.
● Use their class time wisely, show up ready to work.

Students will be able to :

● Integrate science and art while making a unique project.


● Choose a design opportunity
● Develop a plan and identify key stages and resources.
● Demonstrate their product and describe their process.
● Reflect on their design thinking and processes and evaluate their ability to share and maintain an
efficient cooperative workspace.

Rube Goldberg Machine
Due October 3
It is ​very important​ to plan out your machine with your group, start small then get bigger.
This will require A LOT of tests. Your team will have to use a IPAD to video your project.

Things to think about:


What is your machine made to do? (Should be a simple task like turning off a light or
flipping a page)

Students are asked to :


● Work in small groups ​(Max 4) ​Everyone needs to collaborate on the planning, and have a job for
building the machine.
● Use any of the Makerspace lab materials and any recycled materials from home.
● Design a Rube Goldberg machine to do a simple task
● Use an Ipad to video their machine at work.
● Stay organized and keep all designs and worksheets in their folder.
● Create a design unique to them and ​include their blueprint designs in their folder.
● Consider all aspects of the machine.
● Build, test and record their tests. Then make a plan for how they will fix their problems.
(Everything will be recorded and kept in your folder, which will be handed in with your
final product!)
