Gay men & Lesbians?
Only mistranslations and reinterpretations of
the Bible – created by people who preferred
their own prejudices and biases over what
God really put in His scripture – have so-
called “condemnations” of Gay people.
Here's a very brief study of what's really in
God's Word (See the back of this pamphlet for
where to learn or find out more).
Genesis 1:27-28
ª Some claim these scriptures say everyone's
required to be straight and God only cherishes
heterosexual marriage. Here's the truth:
< The kind of person "good" to God didn’t
end at just the sexual orientation, race, color,
height, etc., He made Adam and Eve to be.
< God's command to reproduce was to Adam
and Eve, just like His command to avoid pork
was to the ancient Hebrews [Leviticus 11:7;
Mark 7:19].
< God also promised good to those who can't
reproduce [Isaiah 56:3-5] and Jesus said some
are born not meant to reproduce or marry
heterosexually [Matthew 19:12].
< The New Testament prefers not straight
marriage, but unmarried celibacy – which is
how Jesus lived [1 Corinthians 7:1, 7:8-9,
< "Abomination" in the Bible means
Genesis 19 (& Judges 19)
ª We're falsely told Sodom was full of Gay
men who wanted to rape the male strangers at
Lot's house. Here's the truth:
< The original Hebrew word ("yada") means
the people of Sodom demanded to "know" the
strangers (as in "no longer be unknown"). It
doesn't say "have sex with" or "rape".
< The original Hebrew says it wasn't just the
men in Sodom who showed up to threaten the
strangers that night, but every man, woman,
and child of the city – which leaves out rape.
< Some say if the men of Sodom wanted to
rape the strangers, that means the men were
homosexuals. Yet the men of Gibeah did the
exact same things in an exact same situation,
and they raped a woman. More, straight men
are known to rape other men (as in prisons).
< From 1900 BC to 100 BC, everyone said
Sodom's sin was evil inhospitality towards
strangers. It wasn't until 1,800 years later that
the story was made prejudiced against Gays.
< The Bible says God destroyed Sodom for
violence, arrogance, wealth but no compassion
toward the needy, and idolatrous religious
practices [Ezekiel 16:49-50; Isaiah 3:9;
Jeremiah 23:13-14] – but not for being Gay.
Leviticus 18:22, 20:13
ª We're told these scriptures say being Gay is
"abomination". Here's the truth:
something that violates approved ritual
practices. These scriptures were prohibiting
the abomination of the idolatrous fertility cult
practices, not homosexuality.
< Christians are not allowed to try making
ourselves right with God through any part of
Old Testament Law [Galatians 2:21; 3:11; 5:4;
James 2:10]. Instead, our salvation comes by
our faith in Jesus Christ alone [Colossians
2:13-15], in His New Covenant [Luke 22:20].
Deuteronomy 22:5
ª This is said to condemn those who wear
clothing someone has decided isn't "right" for
their gender. Here's the truth:
< It actually prohibits practices associated
with ancient idolatrous fertility cult practices.
Deuteronomy 23:17; 1 Kings 14:24,
15:12, and 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7
ª Some Bible versions mistranslate a word
here as "whore", "Sodomite", "pervert",
and/or "homosexual". Here's the truth:
< The Hebrew word (“Qadeshah” for females
and “Qadesh” for males) means “cult temple
prostitute”, which was a man or woman
consecrated for sexual religious practices
within their idolatrous fertility cult religions.
Romans 1:26-27
ª These passages are said to condemn Gay
men and Lesbians. Here's the truth:

condemning Gays, but those who live lives of
wealthy and powerful ease.

< "Arsenokoitai” is a compound word (like

“Reagonomics”) that Paul invented. It literally
means “male bed”, but no one has known for
over 1,900 years what Paul meant by it. Best
guess is Paul meant male fertility cult
prostitutes (who may have even had women
clients) or the wealthy, older straight men who
faddishly kept young male slaves/prostitutes.
Jude 7
ª This scripture is sometimes said to refer to
Gay people and “perversion” or “unnatural
lust”. Here's the truth:
< The Greek says “other flesh”. But straight
or Gay sex would have been “same flesh” [1
Corinthians 15:39]. "Other flesh" here likely
meant sex between humans and animals (an
ancient worship practice) or sex between
humans and angels (an ancient Jewish legend
says the women of Sodom did this).
