Abstract

Recent developments of nondestructive inspection solutions and fabrication

techniques led to emergence of many new methods and precise applications of
known methods. In this context, the computerized tomography assisted reverse
engineering methods used in studies considering the physical properties of
structures have begun to find an increasing use area in today’s world since it
allows the structures to be examined and reconstructed in different ways than
the methods supported by superficial rotational image or laser scanning
techniques. However, in this context, a complete reverse engineering study to
be carried out requires information which is already present in quite different
disciplines – which should be suitably combined and used. Often, it is not
possible to collect all of this information in one hand, and a multidisciplinary
group work is required. In this part of the book, the processes from formation to
analysis of micro-CT-based solid models and the considerations which should be
assessed during this process are discussed. The study, which is considered to
contribute for creating a common language for team works, is also intended to
be a guide for people working in different divisions aiming to create user-
friendly products meeting the needs of users.
