𝐴𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃=…………….. ……….
𝐵𝑥 = 𝐵𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃= 𝐵𝑦 = 𝐵𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃=
……………. ………..
𝐶𝑥 = 𝐶𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃= 𝐶𝑦 = 𝐶𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃
…………… =………
𝑅𝑥 = 𝑅𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃 𝑅𝑦 = 𝑅𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃=

For the object to be in equilibrium, total force acting on the body should be zero
Hence,
𝐴𝑥 + 𝐵𝑥 + 𝐶𝑥 + 𝑅𝑥 = 0
𝑜𝑟, 𝑅𝑥 = ⋯ … … … ..
Similarly,
𝐴𝑦 + 𝐵𝑦 + 𝐶𝑦 +𝑅𝑦 = 0

Hence, 𝑅𝑦 =
𝑅 = √𝑅𝑥 2 + 𝑅𝑦 2
…………..
𝑅𝑦
𝐴𝑛𝑑, 𝑡𝑎𝑛𝜃 =
𝑅𝑥
= ……………..

2. Define angle of friction and angle of repose. Show that the angle of friction is equal to the angle of repose.
3. Define work and energy. Find the expression for the work done by variable force.
