Sport Tourist Vacation - Assignment Guidelines

Overview: Working in teams of two (2), students will be given a budget figure that will be used
to plan a sport tourist vacation. The budget amounts will be randomly distributed. Each team is
to decide on a theme for their vacation, collect information pertaining to the elements of the
vacation, including costs, and prepare a “portfolio” of their proposed vacation. The trip should be
for 1 or 2 people. Within the PPT you should properly reference 3 key terms/concepts from our
text from any chapter (Chp 11 is a good one to use, but it does not have to be from Chp 11).
The key words should be in bold, cited via APA format, and incorporated in the appropriate
context per their definitions/meanings.

Content: The portfolio should be in the form a PPT or prezi file or website. It should include a
theme song, images, hyperlinks, screenshots, and evidence of your research. BE AS
DETAILED AS POSSIBLE. You must spend ALL of your money (no more, no less). No “free”
tickets; no free lodging. You must start from one of the following cities – Los Angeles, CA;
Atlanta, GA, New York City, NY, London, England. You must travel a minimum of 50 miles from
your starting point and you must end where you begin. Be creative. Elements to consider:
• Transportation (tips; baggage check fees, tolls; gas)
• Meals (tips, tax)
• Lodging (is breakfast included or not?)
• Ticket cost
• Equipment rental (skiing, camping)

Presentation: The pairs will present their portfolio to the class. The presentation should be
professional and well-rehearsed. Presenters should be in business casual attire, speak clearly
and knowledgably about your subject conveying interest/enthusiasm.
