INTRODUCTION

School Facilities are buildings and grounds, parking lots, playing fields and fixed

equipment. It is the boards desire that the local taxpayers who provide school should be able to

obtain maximum use of the facilities, to the extent consistent with the primary educational function

of the school.

Management of school facilities is an important role in school. Porais High School is

currently improving its facilities through newly built buildings, newly-acquired tools and

equipment and even school service.

Researchers have found most schools lack 21st century facilities in the form of

infrastructure, laboratories, and instructional space. More than half do not have effective teaching

to take plans. Thus, facilities quality is an important predictor of teacher retention and students

learning. The physical and emotional health of students and teachers depend on the quality of the

physical location, which make establishing safe, healthy building essential.

The main objective of this study is to know the Perception of Students on Management of

School Facilities of Porais High School.

The main purpose of this study is to help the school by giving them the perceptions of the

grade 7 students about the management of school facilities here at Porais High School.
Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this research is to know “The Perception of Students about the Management

of School Facilities”.

This study will answer the following question:

1. What is the demographic characteristics of Grade 7 Students in terms of Sex?

2. How aware are the Grade 7 Students about the Management of School Facilities?

Objectives of the Study

This study will describe the Perceptions of Students about Management of School Facilities

in Porais High School.

Specifically, it aims to:

1. Describe the personal profile of Grade 7 Students such as Sex.

2. Describe the extent of awareness of Grade 7 Students about the Management of School

Facilities.

Hypothesis

The null hypothesis that would be tested in the study is.

1. There is no significant relationship between demographic profile of Grade 7 Students and

their Perception about Management of School Facilities.

Significance of the Study

The results of this study would be of great help to the following;

 The School. This study would help them to know what the grade 7 students thinks of about

the management of school facilities, and therefore they will have to improve on what they

want to improve.

 The Teachers. This study would encourage every teachers of the school to make a move

to assist the management in the necessary actions to be taken to maximize the school

facilities.

 The Parents. This study would encourage the parents of the students to help the school in

maintaining and improving the school facilities.

 The Students. This study would enlighten other students about the importance of knowing

how school facilities are managed.

 The Future Researchers. This study would serve as basis of future studies and additional

literature for future investigations.

Chapter II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter presents the examination made on related literature of earlier studies with

similar variables. These are the socio-demographic characteristics, perception on the management

of the school facilities and the relation between demographic profile and their perceptions on

management of school facilities.

Socio-demographic Characteristics

Sex

According to Gregory L. Jantz Ph.D. (2014) Scientists generally study four primary areas of

difference in male and female brains: processing, chemistry, structure, and activity. The

differences between male and female brains in these areas show up all over the world, but scientists

also have discovered exceptions to every so-called gender rule. You may know some boys who

are very sensitive, immensely talkative about feelings, and just generally don’t seem to fit the

“boy” way of doing things. As with all gender differences, no one way of doing things is better or

worse. The differences listed below are simply generalized differences in typical brain functioning,

and it is important to remember that all differences have advantages and disadvantages. Women

are more prone to talk about what they are thinking and feeling, and to demonstrate how they are
feeling with their tears, facial expressions, hand gestures, and body language. Many women seem

to be more comfortable figuring out how they feel by talking through it.

Men, generally speaking, tend to process their emotions inwardly. Many times, they don’t know

exactly how they feel, so they try to figure it out on their own…inside their head. Some men are

afraid of their emotions and keep them buried inside in order to protect themselves from looking

weak. Little do they know, that most women would accept and understand (and even appreciate!)

an expression of their emotion. There are differences between the genders. Each side needs to do

the best they can to understand and deal with the opposite sex, rather than get frustrated about the

differences. We ought to celebrate them.

research on the management of school facilities in Porais High School.

Scope and Limitation

The study was focused on the on the personal profile of grade 7 students of Porais High

School S.Y. 2019-2020 and their Perception on Management of School Facilities in Porais High

School.

The Independent Variable of the study only includes the personal profile such as the gender

of the grade 7 students of Porais High School.

Meanwhile the Dependent Variable is the Perception of Students on Management of

School Facilities of Grade 7 Students of Porais High School.

METHODOLOGY

This chapter present the theoretical and conceptual framework, operational definition of

terms, research locale, research design, sampling procedure, research instrument, data gathering

techniques and methods in collecting and classifying data and as well as the appropriate statistical

tools in analyzing the data.

Conceptual Framework

This study is conceptualized by using the factors that describe the perception of students on

management of school facilities. The paradigm illustrating the description of this variables is

shown in figure 1.

Independent variable Dependent variable

Socio-demographic Characteristics Perception on Management of School

Facilities

Sex
Operational Definition of Terms

Independent variable consists of socio-demographic characteristics such as sex.

Sex refers to the biological attributes of the respondents as to male or female.

Perception of Students on Management of School Facilities of Grade 7 Students of Porais High

School

Perception refers to the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the

senses

School Management is an important part of any educational system. School authorities all

over the world are continuously engaged in numerous activities to efficiently manage school

functions and provide a better educational experience to students.

Locale of the Study

This study will be conducted in Porais High School, Porais San Jose City. The School

caters student who come from Porais, Pinili, SanJuan, Bagong Sikat, Villa Joson. It has

approximately 700 students. It is 8km away from the city.

Research Design

This study will employ the descriptive method. Descriptive research describes what exists

may be able to help uncover new facts and meanings, further, this study will find out the socio-

demographic and Perception of Students on Management of School Facilities.

Population and Sampling

This research will utilize the purposive random sampling technique. The Grade 7 students

will be the respondents of the study. The Grade 7 is composed of 4 sections namely 7 faith, 7 love,

7 peace, and 7 hope. There are 164 students in grade 7.

The total number of respondents will be determined using Slovins Formula computed by:

N
n=
1 + Ne2

Where:

n= Sample Size

N= Population

e= 5% Margin Error

Table 1. Number of Respondents

Research Instrument

This study will use a survey-questionnaire method. This instrument is divided in two parts.

Part I will solicit information about the students socio-demographic characteristics such

as sex.

Part II is consisted of questions made by the researchers themselves.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researcher will secure permission to administer the survey questionnaire through a

letter address to the principal. The questionnaire will be personally administered by the researcher

seeking assistants from the class advisers or subject teachers’. The respondents will be guided

accordingly, in answering. The researchers will make sure that the respondents will be briefed

properly of the importance of the research.

Method of Data Analysis

Data will be analyzed using frequently count and mean score.
