General Instructions: Answer the following questions honestly and to the best of your ability. Before
you start answering, please check the questionnaire. If you have queries regarding the examination,
please ask the examiner or proctor prior to the time specified to conduct the exam. You have one (1) hour
to complete the exam. Good luck and God bless!

Test I. Identification

______________________1. It is called a chain-referral sampling.

______________________2. This sampling technique is also called haphazard sampling.

______________________3. This sampling technique is also called judgmental or selective sampling.

______________________4. Is the equivalent of stratified random sampling in terms of nonprobability

sampling.

______________________5. This means that they are grouped differently according to the controlling
variables of the study.

______________________6. A given population is purposively divided into homogeneous partitions

depending on a certain factor that might be affecting the results of the study.

_____________________7. Is a random sampling technique which considers every nth element of the
population in the sample with the selected random starting point from the first q members.

______________________8. Is the most commonly used sampling technique is done by choosing the
members of the sample one by one, using either the lottery method or the tables of random numbers.

______________________9. A numerical measure that describe the whole population.

______________________10. A numerical description of the sample.

Test II. Problem Solving: Comprehend and understand each problem, show your possible
solutions.

1. A random variable X has a mean of 4 and standard deviation, each value x of the variable can be
transformed into z-scores for x = 7.

2. Random samples with size 4 are drawn from the population containing the values 14, 19, 26, 31,
48, and 53.

a. Construct a sampling distribution of the samples means.

b. Find the mean of the sample means.

c. Compute the standard error of the sample means.

3. A school has 900 junior high school students. The average height of these students is 68 in with
a standard deviation of 6 in. Suppose you draw a random sample of 50 students. Find the mean,
standard deviation, and variance of the distribution of all sample means that can be derived from
the samples.
