A. AUTHOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Missmapple graduated with the bachelor’s degree in Electronics


Engineering from Batangas State University in 2014, she enjoyed
campus journalism when she was in high school. She wanted to
write sports story because she felt it was a challenging task. Writing
stories never crossed her mind until she was inspired by a popular
Wattpad story in 2013, she too began to write on Wattpad. She
loves reading fiction and manga. She is also interested in science
books that specifically talk about astronomy and space. She wants
to know what’s beyond the solar system and find out if the universe
is really endless. She thinks that it will be awesome to travel
space.she loves to watch movies, anime and Korean series. She
enjoys listening to music. It inspires her to write stories. She’s also
a nature lover and certifies daydreamer.

B. SYPNOSIS

Xyra Buenaferte enters the dangerous world of Wonderland Magical


Academy when she discovers that she has the power to control air.
As a newcomer in academy, she draws the attention of Clauss Park,
the arrogant and handsome fire user who assumes that Xyra is just
weak. He becomes her knight-in-shining-armor and true tutor until
they slowly falling in love to each other. As the Dark Wizard
Academy attempt to topple WMA, Xyra and Clauss’ Mastery of their
powers will be important in their incoming missions for elemental
power users like them. In a world where you can’t trust your best
friend and where your enemy could be your greatest ally, Xyra and
other magical user students need to prepare in the clash of good
and bad power users. Will the WMA triumph over the Dark Wizards?

II. STORY ANALYSIS

A. Plot
The story started when Xyra transferred to the Macical Academy
without knowing her powers and abilities. She met two girls who
happened to be her first best friend and classmates in WMA;
Frances, the Future teller and Wanda that can memorize a text
in one reading. These two girls guided and oriented Xyra in
magical campus. Xyra met different kinds of people with
varieties of magical abilities that ruins her reputation in WMA
like Barbie who can turn all the dolls into a human and control
other’s body, The triplets called the Soul Manipulator, Cyril the
healer, Xander the time controller who helped Xyra to train in
5days within 5hrs and Clauss Park, the Fire element user who
happened to be her tutor to know her abilities. Selene and Akira
entered in the scene when Clauss and Xyra became friends.
Selene, the water element user is very angry and jealous with
Xyra and she’s always ruining her. Akira the earth elemental
user has feelings for Xyra and planned to also train her abilities
to know more about Xyra.

The son of Guidance Councillor, Bryan decided to train the four


elemental power user since the Dark Wizard Academy is now
searching to the fifth elemental power user called ‘heaven
power user’ and has a plan to attack the WMA soon. Xyra,
Selene, Akira and Clauss trained for two months and fight
themselves in one-on-one battle. Bryan is planning to group
these four elemental power user but Selene is envy and jealous
of Xyra for having Clauss as her Boyfriend, Akira who is trying
to get the attention of Xyra, and Clauss who is very mad at
Akira as his rival of being strong and rival to Xyra. These four

people can’t suits themselves of having feud with each other but
they did it for the sake of their goals. Their journey and mission
to find the fifth power user starts and they successfully
protected Xavier, the heaven power user. But Felicity, the sister
of Xavier caught by the DWA to be their hostage. They try to
transfer the power of Felicity but Claudette, the sister of Clauss
and Troy recued Felicity. The memories of Clauss got
manipulated by the student of DWA under the command of
Jigger, the right hand of Enzo. Instead of planning to dodge the
attack of WMA, Clauss suddenly attack the WMA.” The heart
can’t manipulate”. Clauss uses his heart to feel what is wrong to
right and what is good to bad. In the help of intelligence of
Xyra, she commanded to clauss to destroy their couple rings
and the memories came back when they already destroyed it.

Dark Wizard’s leader, together with his right hand Jigger and
the spies in WMA initiated a clash. These five elemental power
user faces their rivals and so the students of both academy.
The power of WMA defeated Enzo and the reapers with the help
of their Magical rings. Selene saved Xyra from the last laser
attack of Jigger. She received the attack for Xyra and she got
killed by the electromagnetism power user Jigger.

The earth God took the body of Selene because the water
Goddess trapped in her body. Their four Baby dragons took by
the Air Goddess and the Fire God restores the harmony of the
Wonderland Magical academy. They gave remarkable pendants
to the four elemental users as the sign of the gratitude of Gods
and Goddesses.

The Wonderland Magical Academy is no longer a Wonderland


Magical Academy they drop the word ‘magical’ as the God of
heaven took the powers of the students there and restore the
peace and harmony of the both schools. The academy was
named Wonderland Academy and now it is offering normal
courses for the normal students. Xyra and Clauss got their
Happy Ending while Akira is hoping for the resurrection of his
girlfriend Selene.

B. Characters

Protagonists

Xyra Buenaferte – An air power controller who fights for the


wisdom, peace and harmony of Wonderland Magical Academy
against Dark Wizards. (Main Character)
Akira Kouji – An earth power controller that helps Xyra to
discover her abilities and he have feelings for Xyra. (Main
Character)
Bryan Williams – A son of the owner of the school he possess
the power of Shadow. He trained the four elemental power users to
establish a group that can fight against Dark Wizards. (Main
Character)
Cyril – she is the greatest healer in Wonderland Magical
Academy. She made healing candies that contributes a great help
for the fighters. (Supporting Character)

Antagonists

Jigger – An electromagnetism power user. He is the right hand


of Enzo. He killed Selene (Main Character)
Enzo – The Head and leader of the Dark Wizard Academy. That
tried to steal all the powers of both academies and wants to rule
both magical user and nonmagical users. (Main Character)

Round Characters

Selene Go – She has a power over water. She’s very angry and
jealous to Xyra but in the end of the story, she still saved Xyra.
(Main Character)
Wanda – The best friend of Xyra and a spy of DWA in WMA.
She tried to steal the magical rings to Xyra. (Supporting Character)

Clauss Park – He is a Fire User. He is very arrogant and mean


to Xyra. He hated Xyra in the first place but he fell in love with
Xyra. He is also a Spy to watch the movements of WMA but he
refuse to do his task. His stone heart became very soft in terms of
Xyra Buenafere. (Main Character)

Flat Characters

Xavier – He just appear on the novel lately, he has a power of


nullification or ‘heaven power user’. He completes the five
characters that will fight DWA. He also rescued his sister from the
hand of DWA.
Troy - He has a power over ice. He just help Xyra from the
first part of novel until the last.
Frances – The girl who can predict the future. She helps Xyra
to introduce the wonderland academy and help her.

Stereotyped characters

Barbie – she is a doll manipulator that can control anyone’s


body. She is a friend of Selene but they became rival .

Xander – He is a time controller. He help Xyra ro train her


abilities by converting a 5hrs to 5 days inside the training room.
Felicity – she has a power to steal the power of her opponent
that why Enzo is very interested to transfer her abilities to him. She
is a long-lost-sister of Xavier.
The body and soul manipulators – Jerome, Sandra and Edra
are the soul manipulators and who can clone the body of another
person. Sandra ruins the reputation of Xyra by kissing clauss in the
body of Xyra. And Ericka cloned the body of principal to act that
there is Mr. Williams even though he was imprisoned by the DWA.
Claudette Park – she is the younger sister of Clauss Park.
She is a mind reader. She is the reason why Clauss became a spy
of DWA to WMA and why Clauss is suffering from decision making.

C. CONFLICT
External – the battle between the students of wonderland
magical academy and dark wizards academy
Internal – some characters in the story struggles to their
decision making, the find themselves difficult to choose over
something.

Character vs. man – Selene is always angry to Xyra. The five


elemental powers fights with Jigger, Enzo and the reapers

Character vs. self – Clauss’ struggles to his decision making


between he will save his young sister by being an ally of dark
wizard or be a good magical user. He also find his task very
difficult weather he will kill Xyra and steal the magical rings or
protect Xyra from dark wizards.

D. SETTING
PLACE
The story happened in the two academies, the wonderland
magical academy and the dark wizard academy. The training of
these four elemental power users held on the Island where the god
and goddesses live.
WEATHER
The story started with sunny season but when the clash
started, the story is now in the cloudy and stormy and after
defeating Bad Academy, it is now turned back to peace and order.
SOCIAL CONDITION
Xyra is very unfamiliar to the academy that is full of peculiar
people. She’s very shy to the surroundings. Some students took
advantages to her because she didn’t know her powers. Xyra soon
adopted the mannerism of the surroundings.
F. THEME
The theme of this story is ‘ how you able to distinguish who are the
true friends and who are the impostors’ . Full of forgiveness,
honesty and to be humble.
G. MOOD
The moods of this story are full of thriller, romantic excitement of
Clauss and Xyra and full of fights between good and bad, also it is
sad because of the death and sacrifice of Selene’s life.
H. POINT OF VIEW
The story was told in the first person point of view and some parts
of it also used third person point of view.

A.1 PSYCHOANALITIC THEORY

This theory refers to Selene’s behavior to Xyra. Selene lost all her
senses, all of her goodness. She merely killed Xyra because of the jealousy
and hatred. She’s always making Xyra’s life miserable.

1.1 FIRST EVIDENCE AND CRITIC USING PSYCHOANALITIC THEORY

Xyra’s POV
Tuwang tuwa ako sa paglangoy nang mapansin ko ang isang figure ng
tao. Dahil sa liwanag na nag mumula sa mga alitaptap nakikita kong si
selene ‘yon. Aanyayahan ko sana siyang maligo pero biglang nagbago ang
galaw ng tubig ng waterfalls. Naalerto ako
“shit” naibulaslas ko bago ako nahila pailalim. Large whirlpools formed and
pushed me to the waterbed to drown hindi ako makagamit ng
kapangyarihan sa ilalim ng tubig. Hindi ko na rin kayang pigilan ang pag
hinga pinilit kong lumangoy paitaas pero hinihila ako ng tubig pailalim
hanggang sa mawalan na ako ng malay. (Chapter 16 Air vs. Earth, p105)

1.1 SECOND EVIDENCE AND CRITIC USING PSYCHOANALITIC THEORY.

Nagulat si xyra nang makulong siya sa isang water ball na lumutang


hanggang sa gitna ng classroom natakpan nya ang bibig dahil gusting
kumawala ang natitirang hangin sa baga niya. Nakita niya si Selene na
madilim at matalas ang tinging ipinukol nito sakanya. Tila wala ito sa
katinuan. Nagpasalamat siya bumagsak siya sa sahig sa pag
papakawalanito. Tinignan niya si Selene na tila gusto siyang patayin.
Nakaramdam nanaman siya ng tubig na sumasakal sakaniya. Hinawakan ni
xyra ang tubig na unti unting tumitigas na parang bakal at humihigpit pa
lalo. (Chapter 22 The dare p 142)

1.2 SYNTHESIS A

Some people have been blinded to their hatred and wrath just like
what Selene did to Xyra. Selene uses her power of water to drown
Xyra. She made a large whirlpool that can push Xyra’s body in the
deepest part of the waterfall. Also, Selene imprisoned Xyra in the
ball of water and tried to cut off Xyra’s breath by strangling her. The
wrath of Selene was gone very wrong. She became a monster and
she wants to kill Xyra because of her jealous. You need to control
your angry for you to be able to not to be cruel to someone.
Acceptance is a must and don’t build your insecurities.

B.1 ARCHETYPAL THEORY

There are so many things in this story that seems an ordinary things
but it has a significant meaning and recurring patterns. Some of them are
can be found in other novels and their meanings are the same but if you look
and critic it. There will form a new meaning of it as you read and understand
the novel.

1.1 FIRST EVIDENCE AND CRITIC OF ARCHETYPAL THEORY

The hidden message of couple ring in Wonderland Magical Academy and the
recurring pattern

May kinuha siya sa bulsa niya at hinawakan ako sa kamay. Nag-shut


down ata ang utak ko nang isuot nya sa daliri ko ang isang silver ring na
may kumikinang na bato na infinity sign napatitig ako sa singsing na
kumikinang kinang ang simple at sobrang ganda. Ipinasuot nya rin ang
singsing na gaya ng akin “mawawala lng pagmamahal ko sa’yo lapag nasira

tong sing singsing na ‘to. Mahal na mahal kita Ianne” sabi ni Nate
(AFGITMOLFM part 1 EUPHORIA chapter 04 Infinite 4ever p 33)

We are all aware that the couple rings are the symbols of love and
compassion of two lovers. And the couple ring in the story AFGIMOLFM
shows the meaning of it. Same things as WMA did. Clauss gave a ring to
Xyra to show the meaning of clauss’ passionate love in their fake wedding
ceremony. But the ring is not just a simple couple ring.

1.1 SECOND EVIDENCE AND CRITIC OF ARCHETYPAL THEORY


“These rings shall forevermore be a symbol of love that you have
declared and the vow that you have exchanged” kinuha ko ang kamay
ni Clauss upang isuot ang singsing
“Clauss Park I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all
that I am, and all that I have, I honor you” isinuot ko ang singsing sa
palasingsingan nya na may pangalan ko. Kinuha naman ni Claus sang
kamay ko upang isuot ang singsing na may pangalan nya
“Xyra Buenafuerte, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and
with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you “.

This is a part of a chapter in the novel Wonderland Magical Academy. And it


is very common in the love stories that the lovers are giving a ring to each
other to signify their love. And in that way, it recur the pattern of two stories
that I have read.

1.2 THIRD EVIDENCE AND CRITIC OF ARCHETYPAL THEORY


“Let’s destroy the ring then,“ determinadong wika ko. Nagulat siya sa
sinabi ko at nag-aalinlangan. Kailangang masira ang ring nya kahit
anong paraan.

ni Claus singsing sing nya na may pangalan ko kasama ang singsing
ko.
“Can’t you do it?” nang aasar kong tanong. Hindi sya umimik pero
tinignan nya ako ng masama. Umupo sya sa sahig at ipinatong ditto
ang singsing na magkatabi.
“I’ll do it. Anyway, these rings are not important to me” seryosong
wika niya. Napangiti ako ng mapait. Unti unti niyang sinira ang
singsing sa apoy niya at hinang hina siya dahil sa mga putting
enerhiya na umaatake sakanya habang paunti unting nasisira ang
singsing”
(Chapter 40 Memories, pp272-273)

In this chapter, Jigger and Enzo punished Clauss because of his disloyalty. As
a punish for clauss, The memory manipulator uses Clauss’ ring to store his
memories.

1.3 SYNTHESIS B
“After all, we did not invent symbolism; It is a universal age-old
activity of the human imagination” – Sigmund Freud

The rings are not just an ordinary couple ring that symbolizes
their love. Even other love story novels use recurring pattern of
symbolism. Clauss’ memories had been manipulated by the dark
wizard’s student. He lost all of his memories and it was stored in their
ring. It is mesmerizing thing because it tells us that the ring is not
just an ordinary symbol of love yet, it also portrays the memories of a
person.

B.1 AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL THEORY

The author missmaple loves to read fictions, manga and some books
that are connected to the astronomy. She wrote this Wonderland Magical
Academy because she delivers her passions and her dream to have magical
powers.

According to her interview in Manila International Book Fair 2013, 85% of


her stories scenarios are fictitious. And the rest percent are nonfictions.
Some of them are reality of life and based on her experiences just like
Clauss’ bad attitude who fell in love to Xyra. It is actually happened to her
real life. “Her boyfriend is very arrogant just like clauss.” (Chapters: 2-3,
exposing the characters).

She was inspired to write magical story because she’s actually admiring to
have it. “I wrote a story based on my experiences and also, based on my
observations. I am certified keen observer and I love to ask my friends about
their experiences and some of their experiences was written in my
masterpiece” – missmaple

D. GRAND SYNTHESIS

“Strength is not measured by the mastery of skills but by the


greatness of the heart” – Wonderland Magical Academy.

The quote above serves as a whole body of a novel that I had


critic. The novel left me so many significant lessons in life. You need to
be careful to yourself and control your wrath, well if you don’t have
any reason to be angry to others, don’t be such a brute yet if you are
insecure to others, don’t make their life miserable instead of doing it.
Let your insecurities be your motivations in your life to excel and
achieve your wants. If you are blinded by your hate and anger, just
stop and don’t follow your mind even if our mind is higher than our
heart. Be more patience and be proud of other’s success.
The novel left me thoroughly perplexed after I read it. But after I
criticized the novel, It gives me the information that I really need to
find out earlier. Just like the rings, I didn’t actually notice that I can
critic it more deep. I thought it is just a symbol of their love but I
realized that the couple ring is a recurring pattern of literary work. It is
also delivers a second meaning, that the ring stores the memories of a
person and if you are going to look at your ring, it is just like the ring
is telling you a story that automatically flashes back your memories.
And lastly, I thought that the story Wonderland Magical Academy is
just an ordinary fiction book that tells magic. When I used
Autobiographical criticism, I noticed that the purpose of writing a story
is to express her desires in magical power. And the author is very
obsessed to the magic. And some of the scenarios there are also came
from her experiences and what her friend’s experiences.
